In writing the screenplay, actor Eddie Garcia was already being eyed to play the role of The Colonel. But the writer had no idea if he would do the project or not. A few days after submitting the script to Mr. Garcia, the producers got a call from him and asked: "So when do we shoot."
During shooting, while the director was teaching Eddie Garcia on how to cinematically hit Tony Labrusca with the golf club, Garcia accidentally hit Labrusca on the knee at full force. In spite of the severe pain, the shoot continued and Labrusca actually used the experience to get into character of an actual torture victim.
Once final casting for the three millennial characters Carlo, Pat, and Jaze were done, the director opted to brainstorm with the three actors Tony Labrusca, Liane Valentin, and Henz Villaraiz to complete the backstory of the characters. This would give the actors a better appreciation of each of their characters instead of just having them go through a workshop.
During auditions for the lead millennial characters, they were asked what they knew about the actual martial law period in the Philippines from 1972 to 1981. Most of them did not have a clear notion of what actually happened during this time.
