I really had high hopes for this show. Always enjoyed her design sense on Flip or Flop. So I was hoping this would really expand on her knowledge. Instead this show is set up as a Real Housewives of OC show bookended by design. It's more aimed at her life and drama than design. And it even has an "aftershow" to discuss her personal life, hair extensions and eyelashes. Disappointing addition to HGTV. More suited for Bravo or E!

A fashion show.

She fooled me.

We've watched all of the Flip Or Flops. It's a watchable show and when Christina speaks directly to the camera, she's not very good. But, overall we thought she was the big draw because of her looks, mostly.
Well, in this new show, she's fully exposed and it's not pretty.
It's more of a social media Hollywood look at me, I'm pretty, show. One thing for sure, she'll never make it as an actress.

Not an HGTV show

This show is not about her design skills it's about her life and wanting to be a reality show girl on the same lines as the Kardashians. She has no personality. Her and her ex-husband had a great show with flip or flop he pulled the show together. This is all about her....new house new car new husband but seriously lacking.
Not a lot to show here...

Just like in the previous show she does the decorating. But it's not a lot of that, you see her show a tile here and there and then it goes back to her personal life and that's what it's mostly about it with a splash of remodels. She should have put this show on Bravo so it was like Flipping Out then she could have gotten the popularity with the drama. Especially since it's going to show her engagement and wedding news, etc. But showing her get her extensions done and talking about making out with your now husband up against a wall by a bathroom on your first date (I'm all for it) but it's a little trashy when you out it on put it out there for the nation to hear (just an opinion) And your children. I'm sure if Tarek was dead he'd be rolling over in his grave seeing this. I think the music is horrible, it's too upbeat/dance/I-don't-know-what for a coastal home show. Lastly, I hate how in the intro the camera pans in on her boobs while she's in her yellow shirt and kinda focuses on there. I like her, I just think it looks trashy. It could be more of a home show for sure, but it it were, then it'd be the exact show with her ex. I like her, I do. I'm just not a fan of this show. Maybe it will get better, but for now-it's boring.
Don't waste your time

I have it a chance, really wanted to see her succeed, but what a train wreck. I never realized how little talent she had in designing. It's like she just spends her time showing off herself, not cool projects. I'm really not sure how she managed to convince execs to give her a show about her prancing around, but somehow someone signed off on this waste of airtime. They should probably change the name to "Christina in the Couch." I feel stupid for making the attempt to watch.
She's trying to sell her life

This is a self-promoting show disguised as a designing show . The purpose of this show seems to be , her proving to the world that she's happy and has a new husband -who I don't think is all that, have you see her ex husband lately ?hotdam! The divorced suit him well- she picks the same old gray and white cabinets. She needs coaching and can't stick to a budget . Just a snooze fest that keeps getting promoted who knows why. She can't compare to the other ladies from hgtv no matter how much the keep showing her .
Hate it

I will literally watch anything else. I am so disappointed. It is a show basically about her life. Why am I interested in that? It should be a reality show instead of a renovation/design show. I can't even hear her voice on the commercial. I just turn the channel. On Thursdays I don't even watch HGTV because I don't want to see this show by accident. So surprised at HGTV
Wrong show for HGTV
mommyneedsabreak3 June 2019
I am a long time viewer of HGTV, i.e. Home and Garden Television. The problem with Christina on the Coast is it's trying to be something else, a little bit "Keeping Up with the Kardashians", Christina's new life, new hair, flashy house and car. Meh. Her new boyfriend just seems stuck in at times to give him screen time and someone for her to talk to besides Tarek. And the design portion of the show seemed half hearted. HGTV should know by now what we watch, Chip and Joanna, yes. Property Brothers, yes. Nashville Flip is cute. Bring it down to earth, less "I went Hollywood, look at me!"
Love it! Can't wait for season 4

I love watching Christina's show. Her designs are so fresh and different plus the show isn't boring like other redesign shows. I don't want to see them make a new formula that can strip vanish...boring. I love getting a glimpse into Christina's life while watching the redesign playout.
The Kardashian of the coast

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked Flip and Flop. I enjoyed Christina's design work on that show. This new show is is not about design but more of a reality show for Christina to showcase her new lifestyle - her amazing new life, new man and wealth.
85% of the show is about Christina's new lifestyle of a celebrity in Newport beach while 15% is about actual design and there's not much of that either. Budgets for small rooms are HUGE and most of the time she doesn't even keep to those budgets and the final design is not as spectacular as one would expect from an expert. Sometimes, in the very same episode, we see a single mom trying to figure out how to pay an extra $600 for wallpaper as Christina has blown the entire budget already, while Christina and her beau sail along the Newport beach coast looking at $10+ mil houses wondering which one to buy. In another episode she complains that her 10K per month rental is too cramped for her and her kids! 80-90% of the audience that watches HGTv will not be able to relate. The disparity almost seems tone-deaf. It's not an HGTv show anymore and is 100% a reality show as the camera follows Christina's new life, what she does on her surprise vacation to Ireland, her $4+ mil house , her secret wedding etc. Every show is an ostentatious display of wealth and privilege - the lifestyle of some rich and famous.
It should be moved to another channel that features such reality TV and renamed aptly to "The Kardashian of the coast" .

This is a design show NOT a flip flop one
margineanvaleria24 January 2022
Seems like people cannot forget Flip and flop and are continuing comparing with it, which is not fair. This is an design show and from this perspective it answers to my expectations. Design ideas are great, results also. Don't forget that the same person designed Flip and flop houses, and it was highly appreciated back then..so seems unfair to me to constantly compare with the old format and unappreciate this new individual project axed on design.
Much better than the reviews
dcwalton-259-52702811 June 2021
I thought this was going to be horrible based on the reviews, but its about average for a renovation show. I've watched at least 5 of them at they are decent--maybe not as good as Flip or Flop or the original Fixer Upper, but the same general thing. Okay, sure, some of her clients are relatively rich people in California who are not renovating nearly condemned homes in the the midwest so there is less doing good for the community than Good Bones or Home Town or something like that.
And, there is *a little* more time on the kids and her personal life, but for some Christina is one of the most interesting parts of the show. But to allege that she is like a Kardashian is completely unjustified. She has no family drama or brand empire or bold attempts to just garner click bait to her products or social media (as yet).
I disagree that her design choices are bad. She shows things to clients and adapts. Sometimes they like other things. But that is real.
The primary focus is still on designing people's homes.

This show is not at all interesting
gsullivan-4484720 June 2019
I enjoyed Flip or Flop. It was a nice 30 minute show and quite pleasant to watch. Her head certainly began to swell over the seasons as the cameras followed her around on Flip or Flop. I agree--she certainly needs vocal coaching. Her voice was bearable on Flip or Flop but on here where she's focusing on herself, it's nails on the chalkboard. She doesn't have the personality to pull off the reality type show she's going for. She's just not that interesting quite frankly. That cheshire cat smile plastered all over her husband's face has just got to go. I don't see this series lasting. It's just not enjoyable. She's coming off as a woman pushing 40 trying to recapture her youth. Come on HGTV, you're much better than this. Leave this type of show to other networks though I doubt they will pick it up. I invite you, HGTV, to listen to the viewers' feedback. No one in my circle watches the show. I seriously cannot find one person who likes it. Viewers of HGTV want to see home designs. We don't want to see Christina's personal life, new life, and her snooty van snoot attitude. It's very unbecoming.

Where to start?
mikemauceri-222195 June 2019
This 'show' is useless. Take off the makeup, rip out the eye lashes, melt down the hair extensions, and surgically remove anything else that you did to 'supe up' your body. Quit being fake and distracted by all of this other BS swirling around you including this 'boyfriend', that know one can understand, and the Bentley. Your life is NOT interesting enough to carry any show. You are a phony and the TV time is a sham. However, there is hope for you. I wish you well.
Christina should be on Bravo

Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to this show because Flip or Flop was great never missed an episode. I watched the first 3 episodes to give it a chance & it just keeps getting worse. This is not an HGTV show this is a show for Bravo. I used to think she had design style I am now seeing that she doesn't have any. She is a typical Newport Beach wannabe but I don't think she even fits that. Too much of her personal life which is not even interesting or exciting enough to be on Housewives of Orange County. This show has no substance. HGTV cut your losses now.
Love Christina's Style
whiteman-1138116 January 2021
Love this show, Christina's boho beach farmhouse style is so unique. I've followed her for years and I think she's always ahead of trends. With flip or flop they appeal to a large group with this show she shows her personal style and it's a nice contrast to what we've seen before.

I'm sorry but there is no hype here for me. I'd rather see Tarek on a show by himself. Didn't like her when they were together. Like her even less now. It seems as if she's more focused on her wardrobe versus her "designs" At least women like joanna gains isn't obsessed about tight see through tops when flipping homes. She dressed appropriately for flipping homes and not like she's at a fashion show.
I'm really sick of hearing about Christina's not so interesting life. Big deal.

I really enjoy this show, i was hesitant to watch it at first, but it became very bingeable and realistic home makeovers and the people in christinas life are entertaining and she did a good job making this a decently good show, she brings in a great designers touch.
Quality Design Show
wokndpark5 September 2020
I've watched many renovation, remodel, and design shows over the past couple of decades. Many were terrible. This is not one of those shows. The level of design on this show is top quality. If you're like me and can't afford a professional designer, this show is a great resource for current styles and layout ideas. As with Flip or Flop, I like the personal clips with Christina's family and friends. As far as her personal appearance: she is a professional and she is on TV. Of course she's going to look as polished as possible. Would you choose a designer that looked casual or sloppy? I wouldn't. I recommend this show for the quality of work and design. Christina does a great job.
Awful, awful, awful
triciarkelly25 July 2019
I felt more like I was watching an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians than a home improvement show. Christina acts like a spoiled Valley Girl. I would much rather watch her ex-husband who seems slightly more down to earth. If they're smart they'll cancel this show.
Ugh, boring.
