One of the film's producers, Barry Morrow, is the Oscar-winning writer of Rain Man (1988). He became interested in Moe Norman after a Golf Digest article referred to Norman as the "Rain Man of Golf." Morrow then wrote a screenplay about Norman, entitled Moe, which is in development.
Reed Howard, son of acclaimed filmmaker Ron Howard, is pursuing a professional career in golf using Moe Norman's swing technique, and his golf instructor is the film's Executive Producer Todd Graves.
Bob Young, brother of Canada-born singer/songwriter Neil Young, was interviewed for the film because of friendship with Moe Norman and his love of golf.
Darold A. Treffert, technical adviser for the film Rain Man (1988), written by Producer Barry Morrow, was interviewed despite never having met Moe Norman. Treffert is considered an authority on savant syndrome, which many believe Norman acquired after a childhood incident in which he was hit by a car.
Two of the film's producers, Todd Graves and Tim O'Connor, and cast member Lorne Rubenstein have written books about Moe Norman.
