This looks promising. This is the backstory of Albert, the Wayne's butler, which it seems is all action, adventure. By and large, the actors are unknown to me but they do a marvellous job. Alfred and Esme have great chemistry. Poloma Faith is a menacing henchwoman. Great writing. Great performances. A very different feel to the other DC Universe series which may have to do with the British cast, period setting and locations. All together, a great start. Upon watching this pilot, I give the series an 8 (great) out of 10. I'm looking forward to the rest of this first season which is being released episodically. {Comic Book Backstory}

Best of the best promising start. A more deep story about Batman Butler, from this beginning of pilot, we can see why and how Alfred character build up and most important how his first meeting with Batman father. Intriguing me, with bannon charismatic, wow just wow.

Emotional, intriguing, engaging, fun. This debut has it all. Writing, plot, screenplay, rhythm, suspense, humor, involvement. Rewarding and respectful for the viewer. It lays the foundation and leaves high hopes for subsequent episodes. Excellent test of the leading actors.

Warning: Spoilers
There was a scene with two Gibbling chambers hanging in the background with bodies in them. Gibbling was outlawed in the 1930s and clearly was not in practice when Queen Elizabeth became the Monarch a couple of decades later.🙄

In incoherent mess
koohii28 October 2023
This incoherent mess of a TV show has to tie into Batman Lore because it doesn't have the legs to stand on its own. All manner of details contradict each other, like stocks and gibbets on the streets of London, 1920s art deco and music clubs, 1970s rock music, 1980s phones, and 1950s television sets and Alfred being a veteran of a Jungle war. The show wastes time on... all manner of useless scenes that serve no purpose.
I realize this is supposed to be based on a comic book. I realize a certain level of suspension of disbelief would be required. It just would have been nice if the show had tried to help accomplish that instead of slapping me in the face with chronological and character anachronisms and just generally poor writing.
I was bored out of my skull trying to watch this show. I do not recommend it.
