Black Gold tells of the discovery of oil in Lambton County in the 1860's. There are historical figures as well as fictional characters representing many groups of people in the film, bringing to life the story of the early oil boom in North America. This is a great representation of the lifestyle of the settlers in the area; the successes, failures and hardships of the time as well as the various emotions and behaviours demonstrated by each of the characters. It highlights an important time in the history of Canada through the eyes of those that were there.
