STANDING UP TO MEN

HAVING SOME BALLS IS NOT A WELCOMED QUALITY IN WOMEN. TO ASSERT ONESSELF AS SUCH IS TO TRAMPLE UPON THE MALE EGO AND ROLE IN SOCIETY. HOWEVER, MS. LISTER PROVES SHE CAN HANDLE THE ESTATE QUITE COMFORTABLY. SHE ALSO SHOWS THAT SHE IS A FORMIDABLE LANDLORD NOT SHY TO DRIVE SERVANTS WITH PROPER CONSEQUENCES FOR OPTIMUM PRODUCTIVITY.

Oh Is That What You Call It?

We do see Anne Lister breaking the fourth wall. However just as it happened in the second series of Fleabag, Miss Walker notices the glances to the camera and makes a comment.

This episode has a lot of action between the two as Anne takes an opportunity to ask Ann Walker to live as companions.

Anne Lister certainly knows how to grasp an opportunity. This also applies in her business life as she pursues to get the best deal for her coal business.

The one person who drunkenly stands up to her is Sam Sowden, who makes comments about her mainly male attire. Anne Lister sends him home for coming to work drunk and then tells him that his tenancy will be reviewed.

Sowden is a vile character. His fate is borrowed heavily from the film adaptation of Thomas Harris's Hannibal.
