It is refreshing
khattar-194721 November 2019
The writing is really good. After a long time one can so many expressions in a short story setup. The hight point is Jennifer Aniston. For the first time she is able to shed the image of "Rachel" completely and show her real potential. Thus, her best performance so far. I would recommend to watch the show for her performance.

Two words: Jen Aniston
MovieQween-336222 November 2019
She is absolutely amazing in this episode. Truly a force to be reckoned with and I love her doing this kind of work!! I think she's so amazing and this is her time to shine. Reese is good as well. It's nice seeing both of them get angry and let people have it. I imagine it was quite cathartic

Darker Than I Expected
slightlymad222 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I know given the subject matter, this would not be a laugh riot, but given the comedic talents of Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carrell, I expected a few chuckles, but no, it's mostly very serious and dark.

It wastes no time in dropping us in (much like Jennifer Aniston's character) the deep end, the morning Carell is fired for "Sexual Misconduct" and it hits the ground running. There is a lot of shouting (understandably) by the three leads, but all are superb especially Aniston.

There is enough here for me to stick with it

I am shocked!

I decides to watch all the other AppleTV+ content first and this at last.

Man! What a mistake! Apple killes it with this one.

I've only see this episode so far, but I absolutely loved it. This might be my favourite pilot this year so far.

I went through pretty much every emotion. Joy, laughter, and I even had tears in my eyes when Alex confronted Mitch in his kitchen.

Fabulous start, can't wait to see more.

Wow Apple, quality content!

Powerful
batichiste1 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A powerful episode. It shows the potential of the series and the tone that want to be shown is clear. The main performances are very good. I highlight Jennifer Anniston because she really made a very good work. It introduces us to the characters from different sides and with the intention of future development. I hope more background will be shown about Alex (Jennifer A.) and Bradley (Reese W.) 's family. The way in which they approached Steve Carrell's character seemed very fast in terms of development, and here I find the first argument fail I noticed. He seems to be a character who is not going to influence much since his development was poor (divorce, rage, symptoms of a bad life after he was fired; all in one episode). I would like it to show in episode 2 how Bradley does to finally get into the show and not appear in the studio as soon as the episode begins.

The Morning Newsroom
allnewsuperfake4 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I guess if you make a show like this comparisons with "The Newsroom" are unavoidable, and it certainly tries to recapture it's spirit and is not shy about copying huge chunks of the concept. You have a lot of technical similarities as well, starting with a rather big cast of very emotional professionals walking and speedtalking through the backstage area of the namegiving "Morning Show".

The story is trying to navigate through the challenge of including actual news without offending anyone - which is even harder than it was in 2012 - by turning it's journalists into the last standing fighters in a battle between truth and money, having ratings as well as the challenges of a steadily chaning medium chasing them on their mission to bring people the news.

That worked rather well in Sorkin's original, but suffers here from pushing to many themes at the same time. The Morningshow dives to deep into emotional background stories instead of establishing the main cast and the general scenario first. If you have no idea about the inner workings of a news show, you will be left wondering what half of the people you saw arguing, screaming, crying and being constantly on the edge are actually doing on the set when their world is not coming to an end.

Unfortunately and unsurprisingly it's far more desperate to stay on the safe side when it comes to it's news segment, and where you had "The Newsroom"'s Will McAvoy giving a speech that went viral on real life youtube, establishing his character and his convictions, you now have a well acted, but far less interesting mess of a lead character trying to hold it together over a #metoo incident, being established as a wreck with more or less no motivations besides her own hurt ego. I'm not sure that was intentional. It would however create some much needed tension with Reetherspoon's character, who was introduced with a viral video full of enlightened centrism instead.

Overall - mostly thanks to the cast and production values - it's a decent show, but so far also a missed opportunity.

Episode 1
bobcobb3012 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The problem with this show is that they are trying to create an edgy and dark streaming drama with content that is not there. There is intrigue behind the idea of a morning show, although I doubt they will be able to top what the Australian series The Wrong Girl did, but this just feels so dated.

Intriguing enough to stick with, but not groundbreaking at all.

Who cares??
hpcmakeup5 July 2020
Why didn't the beginning of the first episode show how great these co hosts are together? Their friendship and chemistry...then you care that he's fired and care what she's going to say on air..since we don't know him or their friendship WE DON'T CARE! No one seems to like Alex at the show so who cares if she gets fired too??? And why is she so rude to everyone she works with. I've worked on morning shows and you do not act like Alex who's sleepy in the morning and disheveled and falling asleep on the treadmill. If she's been working on the show for 15 years she's awake and ready to go. It took me days to get thru the episode because it was boring and everyone is unlikable...and Reese is way too old for this role. It should be someone in their late 20s like Jennifer Lawrence not 45 year old Reese Witherspoon with sad brown hair and sad clothes. Terrible casting and bad writing.

The pilot was incredible, the actors played their roles impressively, Aniston, Carrell, Witherspoon and especially Culdrup were 4 pilars of the show brilliantly.

WOW!! CAN NOT wait to see where this leads
bmiller5925 January 2023
So here it is, January 24, 2023 and we are JUST NOW watching The Morning Show. I know/knew nothing of this show, except it's title and I am blown away by this first episode.

I don't look at IMDB reviews and for the most part ratings before I watch movies and TV shows so I went into this first episode not knowing any details. Because I don't preview details I don't want to know what where the show is going...I just want to go along for the ride.

Jennifer Aniston iOS spectacular, but it is difficult seeing her in such a ballsy and outspoken character. What range.

Reece Witherspoon is incredible as well. Though she also plays cutie roles, she has had roles like this, and does this well. Her and Jennifer Anniston could (if it happens) be great partners.

Billy Crudup portrays the "suit" perfectly. I am intrigued to see where he fits in/lands in in this show.

What a great show. Oh yea, I don't usually rate the pilot a 10, I give lots of 9's, but this pilot was a 10.

Am I loosing my time?
tomasmmorgado16 June 2023
This episode was very interesting and very easy to get invested in, but it doesn't seem a big deal.

Don't get me wrong, it's got an intriguing plot that could go very far, the dialogue is amazing and so is the cinematography. It just doesn't seem anything too big, nothing that will blow my mind, since I have a feeling that this will be a stable show, get it won't be anything that I will just recommend you know, no "Oh yeah you would totally love The Morning Show".

Basically I just can't tell if this will be something that will become something bigger or if it will stay on the stable yet not something I'm proud of watching side.

I will still follow the show for a bit longer, and hope I really like it.

What a Masterpiece
moviesfilmsreviewsinc11 March 2022
The premiere opens with a series of emergency phone calls waking our main characters between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. First, executive producer of The Morning Show -ahem, the morning show within The Morning Show, that is - Chip Black (Mark Duplass) gets a call, and then he phones his co-anchors Mitch Kessler (Steve Carrell) and Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) to share the news: Kessler is being fired from The Morning Show ahead of a New York Times article exposing UBA's internal investigation into multiple sexual misconduct accusations filed against him. This sends Alex reeling, and let's be clear: Aniston is made for this role. There are few actors that could balance the fury of being put in this position by a league of selfish men, while simultaneously showcasing the dynamic onscreen charisma that would have made Alex a beloved morning show anchor for the last 15 years. Staring down the barrel of the camera, sitting at a desk built for two, Alex tells the viewing nation her partner of 15 years has been fired for sexual misconduct: "First and foremost, I want to offer our sympathy and support to the women; we are devastated that this happened on our watch, and our hearts are with you." Alex continues, saying that Mitch was a part of their Morning Show family, but there are consequences in life: "And while I will miss the Mitch I thought I knew with all of my heart, I'm proud to work at a network, and live in a country, that upholds consequences." But I also know that there is validity and nuance within Alex and Bradley's bubbling anger in this premiere, and I do hope we explore it in the next nine episodes. In the final scenes, Alex sneaks over to Mitch's house to tell him how mad she is at him for doing this and leaving her all alone in a lonely life that he was the sole person who could understand.

Not great but tolerable
megadith-501892 November 2019
This isn't breakthrough television. It's almost as bad as regular network tv but with the star caliber is slightly better. Poor writing is the main source. We got Apple TV+ for free since we got the new phone for a year and I'm glad for that cause otherwise I'd be sad I spent $5.

Took from Real Life Story
Gwendlyn0074 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler Alert! If you watched an NBC morning news show in November 2017, then you might recall when the lead Anchor was abruptly fired for his unscrupulous office behavior. This show is based on that event to the detail with the exception of hiring a new co-anchor. This show is full of drama. There is a little comedy with the fired anchor justifying his behavior as if it's not a bad thing? Seriously ? In my opinion, sex at work is absolutely wrong on every level. It's not in your performance expectations, unless you are a hooker and that's another story altogether.

In conclusion, the acting is top notch and it's packed with drama and everyone has a potty mouth. I'm 4 episodes in and hopeful it lighten up.

Rather Boring
arfdawg-122 March 2020
Not especially insightful or interesting. Cartoon characters drawn not from reality but from some out of touch second rate writer's idea of what it's like.

Hope it gets better. I'll give it 4 episodes before bailing. I spaced out through a good 40% of this so far disaster
