- When the first two Doctors are kidnapped from time and space, his future selves are contacted by a voice claiming to be the President of the Time Lords. He sends them on a quest to rescue the Doctors' two missing incarnations.
- When the first two Doctors are mysteriously kidnapped from time and space, the Third Doctor is contacted by a disembodied voice claiming to be the President of the Time Lords. He charges the Doctor with the task of joining with his future selves on a mission to rescue the two kidnapped Doctors before his time-line unravels and they all cease to exist.
A powerful signal is used by the Seventh Doctor to bridge the temporal dimensions which separate his respective incarnations, bringing them all together at one point in the space-time continuum. They are then informed of the situation by the Lord President and sent on their respective quests.
It transpires that two versions of their kidnapped incarnations still exist in the continuum, protected from the kidnapping process by temporal anomalies. The First Doctor is located in Medieval Wales, protected by a temporal rift that passes through Cardiff, and the Second Doctor is found battling the Time Lord Omega on Earth, at a point in his history when he had been lifted out of his own time stream.
The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Tenth Doctors are consequently sent to UNIT HQ on Earth to rescue the Second Doctor.
The Third, Eighth and Ninth Doctors are sent to Cardiff Castle in 1415 Wales in a bid to rescue their first incarnation.
At UNIT HQ the Doctors search for the Second Doctor during an attack by anti-matter monsters. They have entered their own past, at a point when they had battled against the Time Lord Omega and his anti-matter gel guards on Earth. The Tenth Doctor drives away in a UNIT jeep while the rest of the group flee from the carnage as a new enemy enters the battlefield... A dimensional wormhole opens, from which emerges a fleet of Daleks.
