A little padded, but ends well.

It's interesting to see the dynamic between Jonah and David, and I am intrigued to know just exactly what David is up to, and why he's called a traitor by the Police.

It's engaging enough, but definitely a bit padded. There are seemingly lots of loose ends, that make no sense now, but will no doubt become apparent. I have no idea what's going on with the daughter, I have no idea what's going on with Emilia Fox's character.

There's bound the be a padded episode in a long series, I fear this was it. It did at least end well, with some neat twists and turns. 6/10

Episode 1.3

Journalist Michael Cohen meets Sally from the British Embassy. He tells her that he believes that her boyfriend was murdered. He also thinks his death is linked somehow to the death of Megan Harris. Of course we know Sally has been liaising with Jonah since he arrived in Hong Kong.

We later see the journalist visiting his ex wife Rachel. We saw Rachel earlier in the episode as she is running the political campaign for the business tycoon.

I know Hong Kong is small but blimey is there a need for such coincidences? Hong Kong is also very crowded.

David tells Jonah that he found out that Megan was shot and the police are keeping quiet about it. Both men are still distrustful of each other. David is quieter and keeping things back. Jonah is being more abrasive. Jonah finds out that David was accused of being a corrupt cop.

Both men get access to Megan's computer in her secret flat. They find photos (automatically uploaded to the cloud) taken before she died including the garbage truck which was not on its scheduled route that day.

Both men visit the garbage depot but are given no information. Jonah feigns illness and walks in to an office and takes away an hard drive connected to a CCTV. It was convenient there was only one person at work in this depot.

I think by now it is clear that Strangers is rubbish and slow moving at that. The writer knew he hit the jackpot when this was commissioned as an eight parter so he could stretch it out with padding.
