Director's Review
THE JEWELS OF THE SALTON SEA preview is footage taken from the full length feature documentary that is approximately 1 hour and 36 minutes being made for television. This feature will be released in 2018. At the beginning I spoke a little bit to give you an insight of the preview. This preview that we are now calling a documentary short, is longer because we wanted this to reach as many people as possible before it is release on television. And to bring positive awareness to the Salton Sea at this time. The Jewels of the Salton Sea preview was a journey that took us one year to complete. While making this film we traveled and explored around the Salton Sea and surrounding areas. We learned about migration, we witness growth, we nourished the habitat, and enjoyed to the fullest the majestic mountains, the shimmering water, of North America's largest inland salt lake. I was in awe of the spectacular scenery both in the Imperial County and Riverside County. It was clear to me that this area was full of life. As the director I had the honor to speak to so many incredible people. along with biologists, scientists, state officials, business owners, residents, and politicians to learn that the current status of the Salton Sea is in great need of our help and we need to act fast. I want to sincerely thank from the bottom of my heart the environmental leaders that are committed to sharing their expertise to realizing sustainable development, the economy, and exercising their social responsibilities towards the Salton Sea. In further to thank all of the people that helped make this preview happen. This film preview was made to help bring positive awareness so that others in power will make the Salton Sea a sustainable environment. For our traveler and researcher Grace Yang it's a long way from China to the Salton Sea. She went beyond her now American Citizenship to humanly try to learn more about the Salton Sea, and to gain research that can help us all while she learned about what she can do to help. The environmental and economical values of this vast inland lake are many and need to be realized. From land, from the sea, from boat, car, and on foot this preview is now realized. Far often we focus on the negative of things and in others. There is much beauty and I have to say the Salton Sea is one 'Crown Jewel' and far from a sea left to rot. The sea needs to be nourished no different that you and I. This film preview/documentary short was made for many reasons and to show its natural beauty, and that it is living, and that there are living things here, and that this is a special place of our plant earth and it seems very natural to me that it exists and that through our findings we hope to show why we need to preserve what is here. I do hope you enjoy this film preview. I wish to sincerely thank you all for your support and I ask you to support this film, that being the positive Salton Sea. For me helping others succeed can be my greatest success. Join me Steven Vitali and others and support the Salton Sea...while planet earth teems with life. God Bless America Steven Vitali
