- As the newest substitute teacher at La Salle High School, Kevin tries to help an introverted student become more self-assured and popular. Meanwhile, Yvette contemplates life after the mission, and Amy and Nate struggle to plan the perfect first date.
- Kevin wants outwardly to celebrate the latest achievements in his life - including his new substitute teacher job, the school where he can bask in the glory of his teenaged life there including what he considers the best ever annual freshman prank ever concocted by his truly in 1995, and the annointing of the first of the new righteous of his generation - with someone, the most appropriate "someone" being Yvette, who does succumb to his request by making herself visible to others, in this case at an out of the way teppenyaki restaurant where no one would know Kevin. The joy that Yvette feels in part due to the same things Kevin is feeling, and sharing these accomplishments with him at an exuberant dinner out is put to the test when Kevin asks her later not to be as present at school while he is at work, he believing it harder to explain his "asides" to a phantom when a group of teenaged eyes are focused on him. In such situations, he believes she is more of a distraction than a help. Based on this request, Yvette begins to contemplate her existence, not so much her work with Kevin, but a more universal aspect which will affect her post-Kevin world. Kevin believes the next person he is supposed to help is Adam Hargrove, a student in his first class, as Adam was literally invisible to him upon first glance. Kevin learns from Reese that Adam has been bullied since middle school, he still an easy target for that bullying. As such, Kevin tries to help him become more self-assured if not popular in the only way Kevin at school believes he can. In the process, Kevin wants to bring down Mr. Pelkovitz down a notch, Mr. Pelkovitz - The Pelk - seen as the coolest teacher at the school, a position to which Kevin aspires himself. Meanwhile, Amy and Nate are trying to arrange their first date, which Amy states doesn't have to be a typical first date as they are already friends who know each other. But as one obstacle after another arises, Amy feels more and more in limbo with Nate, as they are no longer just friends, yet they have not even gotten to the point of knowing if they can be potential lovers.—Huggo
