On the greedy destruction of the Amazon Forest
guisreis18 July 2022
This is a documentary, with very good footage and analysis, about the destruction of Amazon Forest by greedy and violent criminals who steal public land and menace nature and native people. The film could be more engaging, but it is consistent and also show testimonies of some of those despicable narrow-minded millionaires and the simple people who work for them in their illegal business due the lack of opportunities. The activities of law enforcement and regulation crew are well shown too, and so is the partnership of native people and traditional denizens to protect the land. There is data from military dictatorship (Geisel governement), and from 2009 and 2013, but clearly situation worsened a lot in 2017, after 2016 coup. Many people referred to "present government" as one that led to a serious worsening of the situation. As documentary was filmed between 2014, when Dilma Roussef was still president, and 2019, they may have referred to post-coup chiefs of governement: either conspirator Michel Temer, or Jair Bolsonaro, who was elected in late 2018 to rule from 2019 on (none have been ever namely mentioned).
