You'd think someone with a terminal diagnosis would want a second opinion!

Pt with liver cancer denial about death of hubby breakins--destroying photos?? antipsychotics not being taken lonely old lady

When the episode begins, Doc Martin's receptionist is shocked when her parents show up....unannounced. It's a bigger surprise than you might think, as the parents are missionaries to Kenya and haven't seen their daughter in ages. Not surprisingly, she is angry....angry at the way they apparently chose serving God over loving and caring for their daughter. But there is more to the visit than she thinks....he mother is there to tell her she is dying!

In addition to these plots, this episode has an interesting story about a young man who has returned home from college as well as a new patient who just wants someone to talk to instead of treatment.

Overall, a high quality episode (as usual) where the Doc is grouchy (as usual) and Penhale is an ultra-idiot (as usual). Well worth seeing if you enjoy the series.

Morwenna's parents are missionaries and Mrs Newcross confides in Dr Martin Ellingham, that she has been diagnosed with liver cancer. Mrs Newcross refused any considerations of the necessity of further diagnosis, because she is convinced of her own imminent demise. She has made her peace with it, and has to tell Morwenna personally.

Louisa Ellingham is starting her training sessions however she has decided to do it from home, in video conferencing from her laptop computer.

Doc Martin's blood phobia, proves a useful means of communication with a local lad. Whose problems lead him into trouble, with the old bill.

Parents return, boy returns and a dog finds a new home.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was lovely. Despite PC Penhale's ineptness. Morwena's parents arrive and surprise her first thing in the morning after returning from Kenya. Mum discloses she has liver cancer, a diagnosis by another doctor. Two break ins, one at the school and one where rescue boats turn out to be related. Although neither entailed thefts of items, both had photos torn up and a face ripped out. Dan, the son of a villager, returns home from uni and visits the pharmacy for medication which Mrs. Tinshell will not give him until he gets a diagnosis from Doc. He goes to the surgery, is told he has shingles, that he has put on a significant amount of weight, and that he needs to bathe. Bob, the canine pal of Buddy, insists on joining the family. When Doc finds out Bob's owner had been dead for a while, he gives Bob to an elderly lady whose own dog has passed away. Bert is not happy staying in the tiny room at his employer's store so tries to get Al to house him either at Al's home or in a room at the pub. Bravo to Al who tells him he has made his bed and now has to lie in it.

All in all, Morwena's mum and Dan both get new diagnoses from Doc.

Utter Stupidity
Hitchcoc15 April 2018
This was a very well done episode. Al is making a go of the pub and is living with Morwenna. One morning the doorbell rings and it is Morwenna's missionary parents. They have been out of her life, living in Africa, but they still are judgmental. They represent the worst kind of religion, the kind where they won't allow common sense to enter into anything. The mother believes she has liver cancer and refuses to allow Martin to follow up on it. We also have Louisa's efforts to take courses to become a child therapist. And a series of strange events are taking place after a young man returns to town from the University. And there are also two dogs. While some of the episode is pretty predictable, Martin makes things really click.

Christians are not Suicidal
TheFearmakers24 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Christians are suicidal kooks who go around and say things like Praise God to people who they have no idea about (like Danny) and are like robots.

Well, that's what we learn on this episode, anyway...

The plot here has the missionary parents of Morwena not wanting the wife to get medicine; so she'll just die painfully with no chance of recovery.

Just to let you know... Most Christians love life. More than a Buddhist like Doc, that's for certain. He can't stand anything under the sun, not even his perfect wife and child, and location.

But not a bad episode. Another filler. The dogs are cute.
