Hands down my favorite episode of this season, Hank and Dawn might be the best side characters I've seen in a comic book adaptation. As to why this episode wasn't aired right after the second episode, well that's where Raven come's in and why Dawn needed to be in the coma. With this episode I'm putting Titans up there right under Daredevil, if the series can keep this quality of writting and characters development, I can see it surpassing that as well. Titans is the biggest suprise of this year. And as a DC fan, I can safely say that this is the best live action adaptation they've put out and I cannot wait to see what else the dcuniverse will dish out(Swamp Thing,Doom Patrol,Stargirl,Metropolis).

Outstanding, remarkable and likeable filler episode
Holt3448 December 2018
At first I didn't know what I would think about this episode but it was remarkable, great writing except for the library scene, other than that it was perfect. Making the two characters even more likeable and human. I hope they play a bigger part in the second season as it seems they got a big part in the last couple of episodes. The actors that plays them does a magnificent job with making them realistic and likable, great chemistry between them.
Great episode!
So far this show has blowed away my expections and I'm sticking around for future seasons and crossovers.
A Realistic and Insightful Portrayal of Vigilantism
ambivalent_sam22 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Normally, a filler episode that breaks you from the main plot would be maddening. But since Titans clearly hits a low with "Asylum" and "Donna Troy", taking a break from the title group is a welcome relief.
"Hank and Dawn" is my second favourite episode of the season, behind only "Hawk and Dove". It is a powerful episode that presents probably the most realistic portrayal of vigilantism put on screen. The fact that they are lesser heroes with no powers only makes them more relatable and their stories more tragic.
Something I like about this episode is that our heroes motives are entirely selfish, which is refreshing. Still, their motives come from genuine places of love and grief. These characters feel and act like real human beings would, including Hank's brother. And though the episode is as dark (darker maybe) as episodes that preceded it, the dark tone feels more digestible in Hank's world than that of the Titans, partly because Hank and Dawn are allowed to be more grounded and complex as characters in two episodes than the rest of the Titans in ten. In fact, I'd probably give "Hank and Dawn" 10 stars if not for its ties to the main storyline. (A Jason Todd premonition? Really?)
If Titans successfully continues to mix in powerful contained stories about characters from the less popular parts of the DC canon, than I will continue watching. I just wish the writers would treat the main story with the same amount of depth and care as they did here.

Outstanding effort

This episode fills the backstory of Hawk and Dove but is by no means a lesser chapter. Its one of my favorite episodes of TV this season and the best of Titans so far. Directing, writing and acting were excellent, and Alan Ritchson was truly outstanding, he gives an unexpected depth to Hank that is emotionally gripping. Minka Kelly does the same for Dawn and together they carry this show beautifully.
11 Stars!

This episode covered some of the most powerful themes we encounter as humans. Abuse (physical/sexual), social service dysfunction, unexpected/violent loss, vengeance, and grief. In less than an hour these topics are dealt with in great detail and the actors are able to hold the emotion of these experience expertly. Such a healing episode to watch- and despite the intense violence- every part of me rooted for these characters to succeed in every way.
Amazing Work
Sam_Morningstar8 December 2018
'Hank and Dawn' is the next instalment of Titans: Season 1. This episode revolves around the Hank and Dawn. The acting of Alan and Minka was amazing. Here we saw the origin of Hawk and Dove. Even though it was a filler episode, It had important development which is crucial to the plot. DC is doing well for its TV shows, either the CW or DC Streaming Service. Even though the blue tint is annoying, it is compensated by the directing and story writing/execution.
So as before, I really recommend this show and I hope that the show keeps going in a good direction.

Good backstory work

Loved finding more out about the characters and having a proper backstory episode wouldn't have been against having a few more of these for the other characters to. Less action than usual but the story portrayed made up for it.
This deserves a show!

I love these characters, the acting and writing is superb. There were several touching moments. The relationship between these two seems new to me for a TV show. I would love to see this get its own show with these same actors.
Great

Best episode of the series, should have made a movie about these two
kincso-kiki-varga18 January 2019
Honestly, I don't approve of this series because it is the desecration of the comics... but this episode was a favorite never the less.
The story addressing great issues like grief and rape, and really works on them. Not in your face, like 13 reasons why, but in a more subtle way but still keeping the shock factor.
Would recommend.

Low budget?
samofnine7 March 2019
I like this series very much, but I don't get the many deepened characters we only see once or twice. How do they fit together? Will they all be titans? Or who? And when? Before the series gets canceled I hope. Besides that... I know it was a filler episode, but seriously, they have one special fx stunt scene and they use this crappy shot with unnatural car movements CGI?! Hello? Anybody home in the fx department?
One of the best episodes

I can see that Titans can surpass Daredevil if they keep it up with the remarkable work!
asb_deutsch23 December 2018
The best filler episode I have watched till date.
Hats off to Akiva Goldsman who penned A Beautiful Mind, which happens to be one of the best dramas . This episode covers the emotions what Nolan does to DC- vengeance, grief, loss and also sex!
Minka Kelly and Alan Ritchson were fantastic, indeed!
My Score: 8.5/10 Season 1: 68.5/9 = 7.61

Well, it just gets worse and worse this series. At first, it seemed like this could evolve into a cracking programme, but recent episodes have just turned crap. Has someone else taken over production of this, has someone else started writing this? It is a struggle to stay interested with this programme.
A very good yet extremely frustrating episode
gdrgham8 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong here, I believe it was a pretty good episode that gives a lot of character depth to Hawk and Dove, which is something I always appreciate and enjoy, but the timing of it was just bad and cruel. It was very hard to care or even concentrate when all I could think about is the cliffhanger last week's episode ended with, Starfire grabbing Raven by the throat ready to incinerate her. Now we have to wait another week to know what happened... Not cool, not cool at all. I'm hoping all of this will make more sense when next week's episode airs.
Also, we're 9 episode in, still no Cyborg. Where is he? We are getting a Cyborg tho, right?
Truly awful change of tone
jenkinscammy12 September 2022
Not sure what appeals to others about this episode. It's a HUGE departure from the previous 8 episodes, in that there's very little action and almost nothing to advance the storyline.
Mostly, we are stuck reliving all the trauma from Hank's past. We also see how he met Dawn. It's 10 minutes of story-telling that's been stretched into a full episode.
If you went into this episode thinking that Hank is an unlikeable man-child, your opinion won't change. If you went into this episode hoping to see a sex scene between two objectively gorgeous actors, then you won't be disappointed. It's really the only reason I can think that it's so highly rated....

A standalone episode that doesn't do much to the main plot
wukan198913 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode focuses on who Hank and Dawn were (more Hank to Dawn) and how they met. However, it is more like a backdoor pilot for a potential show centering on Hank and Dawn than an episode in the Titans. As an episode in Titans, I would give it one star given that it does nothing to push the story forward. As a standalone episode, it is lacking in several areas. The visual effects are not great. The story also needs a bit more work: Dawn just decided to risk her own life to punish a sexually abusive teacher for a person she met couple of times?
A Pointless Episode

Titans with no titans
boudybob8 December 2018
So the writers decided to make a titans episode but titans free! If you want to talk about the background of hank and dawn you can do this the regular way. But taking a hole episode to talk about Hank and Dawn!!!! and when ???!! when Rachel's life is on the line and we want to see what is going to happen???????? REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can't film an episode during the Christmas just don't
