''Day and Night'' involves 8 different cases but each somehow related to the real mastermind behind the main case the Guan brothers are working on. Yueming Pan is praised once again due to his outstanding performance of playing the two brothers with personalities that totally differs from each other. With a tense and an absorbing plot along with the superb performances the actors give, this drama is definitely a pleasure to watch.

The reason why I went to watch "Day and Night" is that I was somewhat surprised by its rating on Douban which is a Chinese website for people to share opinions for movies and TV series they have seen. After I finished the first episode, I was totally attracted and wanted to know the whole plot. I was amazed by the music, the story line, the color, and the picture. Actually, I think the actor Yueming Pan who performed the two protagonists contributes a lot to the success of "Day and Night". The twins in the story are both acted by him. They have alike looks and dress in alike clothes, yet their characters are opposite. The elder brother is relatively a rational introvert, but the younger brother is quite outgoing. In my opinion, it's a challenge for an actor, since when there are two different characters acted by the same actor appear in a picture simultaneously, it is easier for viewers to find if the actor deals with these two different characters in different ways. Pan makes the twins different by giving them characteristic gestures, different tones, and even distinct eyes. I even wonder if Pan does have a twin brother. All in all, it is an amazing show and it is worth seeing.

flawless performance of actors as in a TV series. Plots are interesting，full of details which make the story vivid and funny. I would give a 7 to the story and a 3 in addition for the performance. one of the best Chinese series in 2017,or even during the last few years. strongly recommended.

For god sake!!!! Who wouldn't love this show?! With a rate 8.9 on IMDB?! Whatever, it is a detective drama talking about a twin, one was the lieutenant of the police and now as a consultant and another is a criminal who is frame by anonymous. Not like those units drama, some of cases will last two or three episodes, but somehow all of them have connections. BTW, the twin is actually acting by one person, who is my favorite actor, Yueming Pan. Really hope he can act more like this!!!!! Highly recommended!!!!

This one deserve every bit of attention if you are into detective stories, and the thing is its more than detective story the whole season plot runs smoothly though minor plot holes, for the acting of the protagonist alone as twin with subtle difference in character is the highlight with amazing support cast and thrill of cat of mouse around every corner.
I haven't watched any Chinese drama except for the old Kung Fu ones, but if this is the quality of Chinese TV definitely will be hooked more. Highly recommended and thank you to Netflix for bringing it out to global audience

Chinese TV and Net series aren't known for good quality. Most of them, much like Chinese films, suffer from cheesy plots, flat characters, unprofessional actors, bad audiovisual effects or irrelevant themes. As a result, few of them can get the attention of critics or the audience from other major markets like the US and Europe. And the general Chineses audience too is getting bored by the garbage that they have been fed with.
Under these circumstances, a serie like Day and Night is exactly what the Chinese TV&Net series industry needs in that this serie has overcome all the weakness and flaws that the other Chinese series seem to share: The plots and the subplots are well developed, coherent and full of twists and turns; The leading roles are compelling and played by very professional actors who delivers very well their lines and emotions. Pan Yueming (who plays the Guan brothers) and Wang Longzheng (who plays Captain Zhou Xun) are the kind of actors that Chinese series need more of; The filming, editing and music of this serie is surprisingly good and mature; And most importantly, it has a theme that is relevant to every society and people: brotherhood and good versus evil. Not only does it tell an excellent detective story, but it also gives a full-scale presentation of the modern Chinese law enforcement system (which the Western people know little about), explores certain interesting aspects of the Chinese society and asks meaningful questions about family, loyalty, trust, duty and justice, etc. This is what a serie should do if it wants to appeal to people around the world. Also China deserves more series like this which, in a fascinating way, show the world that China is nothing more and nothing less than a normal country where there is a legal system that works and where good people can get their justice against evil most of the times.

I knew about it from Zhihu at first. Many Zhihuer thought highly about Day and Night. So I tried at my spare time with curiosity. Wow, so wonderful it is. Luckily, The whole drama was updated and I can watch for free at Youku. I chased it to midnight every day. Yueming Pan is a very good actor.His skill of acting impressive me. He swifted between the roles skillfully. Finally, I love the story and Yueming Pan.

You cannot imagine that the very different 2 characters are performed by single actor, The major 2 characters in the movie are twins, one is policeman and the other is suspected to be a "murder", the story line for them evolves at the same time line the elder brother named FENG works as policeman in the daylight, and younger brother named YU acts as FENG in the evening, sometime FENG has to act as his younger brother, so actually the actor performed 4 characters in the movie, but you won't feel difficult to identify who is who through their habitual behavior, while other characters in the episodes are not aware of the difference.
The story and the performance are so attractive that most of the Chinese fans watched the 32 episodes movie twice, the 1st time is to enjoy the whole story of the movie, the 2nd time is specifically for performance.

I don't want to give anything away in case you should decide to give this a try, so I won't spoil it with specifics.
The show has a lot going for it. It is a fresh take on a police based story, involving corruption and some people who get framed or falsely accused, and those who work to exonerate them. This show features identical twin lead characters. One is a brilliant detective, former captain of the district police station, who is working to clear his brother, falsely accused of murdering a family.
There are individual cases which must be solved over one or two episodes, as work is done over the course of the whole series to clear the falsely accused, framed, innocent man.
I failed to give it higher marks partly because the writers failed to tie up loose ends, and answer questions raised throughout the show, and in particular because the last episode was not up to par with the rest of the show. I also felt that one of the lead characters in this show is ultimately shown to have behaved in ways which are very much out of character with all we know about him from the body of the show.

I was so surprised that I can find this kind of drama in China. I know recently there are a lot of good detective drama in china now, but none of them like this. Those stories are from reality, that make them look so real, you can totally understand their angry, their fear, their despair. You can see different departments work together, not like the other drama that detective is a genius and he can fix everything by himself. The best part for me is two brothers. They are twins, it's from blood, but they are so different that make their lives in opposite way. But destiny push them together again, Big brother was a detective who can not go out in night, younger one is a murder suspect. Even they know the younger one is innocent, they have to find out the big boss , they have to against world together. The world is so big, but the only one they can trust is each other. Wish they can have a happy ending, find real sunshine in their lives.

This became an instant classic after its release as steaming video in 2017. Nowadays it is rarely to see such an excellent production with original plots and masterful acting in China. Considering the absurd censorship, it is amazing to see the reflection of reality achieved in this crime drama. Pan celebrates his comeback after a long period of unpopularity. Netflix made a smart decision to include this show in its lineup and did a very good job with the English subtitles

Awesome! I was interested in this drama series because I heard about that Netflix acquired "Day and Night "overseas distribution as it's first show from Chinese streaming video platform last November. This project has generated up to 5 billions views in China. and achieved the highest rating scores 9.0 on Douban ( like IMDb in China ). I am curious how it make this work. It sounds incredible because this situation never happened before in China . After I watched the 1st episode I was really touched and sticked by it. It concentrates such excellent movie elements like consummate acting skills,rigorous detective reasoning plot and tons of perfect details , even so it cost less than $12 million to make. I give my surprise exclamation to main actor Yueming Pan, he acts 4 difficult characters in series , two twins with dual identities because they have to act in different situations. The twins has same looks but different sense . Yueming got into when he played, endued detectives old bro and suspect young bro inspired readability. After released in China, Yueming has got 3.6 million filmgoers to follow him on Weibo.
In my opinion, it's necessary to own for anyone who was obsessed with high quality drama series. Hope highly in both Yueming Pan and "Day and Night "can achieve huge praise during releasing on Netflix.

This movie rocks I was on the edge of my seat the whole time pan yueming is outstanding in his role and Wang longzheng I was completely amazed I would never guessed the ending in season 1 it was phenomenal just phenomenal I haven't seen season 2 but I am truly looking forward to seeing it there are a lot of twist and turns you would never expect this is truly a crime drama wow outstanding just outstanding what a performance and the entire cast was great I couldn't stop watching it over and over it was a real treat to watch I hope to see more of pan yueming in crime drama his character was so smooth thanks Wei Wang.

This is a really great mystery/crime drama, and anyone who is interested in these kinds of stories should watch this series, regardless if they've watched anything from China before. This is pretty significant, as up to this point, Chinese dramas are generally not something I would recommend to people more used to international/Hollywood entertainment, but this series sidesteps a lot of the problems that have plagued Chinese scripted tv shows (in part, I suspect, because it was a streaming show, and therefore didn't need to make the longer episodes/longer seasons that stretch out the budget of Chinese broadcast shows). But if you are someone whose tastes in crime tv has been shaped by the excellent shows coming out of Denmark and the UK recently, Day and Night might be something worth checking out - the shorter narrative arcs are excellent, and the longer question of two twin brothers prentending to be the same person to investegate a murder pinned on one of them leads to some interesting character moments. As many have said, the actor who plays both brothers is excellent, and the cinematography makes China look awesome (particularly the markets and forests).
