Great non verbal drama

This short movie let us know that dance(and facial expressions) are one of the great tool to enjoy a story without languages. I am a Japanese and I can understand and enjoy this love story. It doesn't need dramatic music, I think these great dancers could do a great work even though without music! I want to see their next story! I love it!

Powerful and Delightfully Romantic

As a rule, I'm not drawn to musicals, but " The Way It Begins" totally changed my thinking. The production is unique in its storytelling entirely with music and dance. No words are spoken. Okay, maybe four words. It's beautiful and brilliant! The characters did not need any words to express themselves. This movie short is filled with just about every emotion you can think of throughout the couple's encounter. From the get-go, the playful music, "Gene Kelly" dancing in the streets, and amazing scenery, will grab your heart, make you smile, and surprise you with authentic feelings that transcend the power of speech. You might even tear-up a little. It's powerful and delightfully romantic!

Great musical short film

Very nice short film full of a budding romance, sidelong glances and dance steps where New-York plays completely its role. Lovers of this city won't be disappointed. A day in NYC, a furtive meeting and a dream which is written in music ... I liked the aesthetic quality and the choreography, the light and the photographing.. Great and meticulous work from the director, Chris Wright, and his team. A film to watch again and again whilst impatiently waiting for their future artistic projects.

Feels like a first-year student film

Great dancers, and great acting from the dancers. Cinematography isn't bad. Editing is very poor. Score sounds like a stock music Dixieland jazz compilation. The net effect is very slow and hard to watch.
