Intrigue up a notch.
TheFirst0124 June 2020
I didn't expect these 41 minutes to go by so fast, but then again I'm very intrigued by the show. As I said in my review of the pilot, this feels like Chernobyl and then this episode shows that some of its setting where Mikkel is in is set half a year after the events of Chernobyl. I also compared the show to Lost, and this episodes proves it even more with it's time travel aspect. Overall, a slow episode that intrigues, but can still be super entertaining if you enjoy what I've said so far about the show. I give the episode an 8.4/10 since it's a sophomore episode and we shouldn't expect that much action in a second episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Resume of event of episode2.: Mikkel's disappearance brings back memories from 1986 when Ulrich's younger brother Mads vanished, and Ulrich starts believing that the disappearances of Erik, Mikkel, and the body of the third boy are related. While searching the caves, he finds a locked door leading to the nearby nuclear power plant, and although Ulrich's request to enter the power plant is refused by its director Aleksander Tiedemann, Bartosz's father, he is able to clear Erik Obendorf's father, a power plant driver, from his list of suspects. Police chief Charlotte Doppler is informed that the dead boy, dressed in a 1980s outfit, died only 16 hours earlier, and that his ears were destroyed by extreme pressure. Later, as lights start flickering and birds fall dead from the sky, Charlotte grows even more concerned. Meanwhile, an unkempt stranger checks into the hotel owned by Bartosz's mother Regina. Ulrich's mother Jana lies to Ulrich, claiming that her husband Tronte was with her the night of Mads's disappearance, while knowing he had left their house. At dawn, a disoriented Mikkel wakes up in the cave and runs home, only to discover that the date is 5 November 1986

Review:We still wondering if they will find the little boy but they found another boy with strange face. And the investigation want to know more and more. Very enjoyable. I loved it.

So much more than what It seems!
and_mikkelsen31 May 2023
This is the feeling i got from this episode, as everything suddenly became a lot more complex and extra layers of mystery was added! Who is the stranger? Why are the kids missing and has it happened before? Where qre the kids being talem and what is it with the cave?

This show offers so many questions and it is so intrigueging to leave you guessing and looking for answers! The elements introduced in this episode are way more complex than I thought and makes this show truely stand out! The final part of the episode was insane to me and really made me loose my mind!

Its almost impossible not to talk about it without spoiling it!

So far from 2 episodes this one looks not so interesting and kind of boring.

Strong second episode that goes where expected, but in a very effective way
snoozejonc15 April 2024
Mikkel's disappearance has Ulrich frantically searching.

This episode builds on the introductions of the first by creating mystery in scenes of characters piecing together puzzles and deal with the fallout. There have been a lot of hints about what might be going on and this episode went where I thought it would go, however that is not a negative aspect from my point of view. The way it finished made me want to watch the next episode.

Similar to the first episode, a large amount of praised should go to the production values. There is a lot of strong camerawork, lighting, creepy art design and the audio track enhances everything tenfold.

I Came Back
Hitchcoc28 November 2023
I watched the first episode a couple years ago and found it too depressing to go on. I've decided to try it again. If ever there was an appropriate name for a show it would be this one. It is dark in every sense of the word. The characters are sad and depressed. There are children being stolen. It is raining and blowing like crazy through the whole thing. The people at the power plant are apparently evil and have no interest in helping even the father of Mikkel. We have a guy with a hoodie, a man with dark features, almost Satanic in appearance, out there stirring things up. There is also a time travel warp thing going on and some supernatural elements in the background. I guess I'll give it a shot.

Warning: Spoilers
An episode that continues to build on the characters introduced in the pilot. Plenty to engage here and get your teeth into, even if the plot doesn't move forward in any particular new ways - apart from the last scene, which we've been waiting for and which doesn't disappoint.

Worst of the series. And still good
tedscoasterchannel2 June 2019
This episode features every negative aspect i criticised about episode one and doubles down on it. As someone who's native language is german, the country where this show has been produced, it is at some occasions pretty hard to watch. Even more of the dialogue feels dull, and there are a few really bad acting performances. But the story itself is continuing to be intense, mystical and awesome, as well as the production value.

Too slow
orialon241 July 2020
I'm just starting the series but this episode almost made me stop :/ Is was just too slow and felt like nothing really was happening. The ending was what saved it from me and I'll try to continue to see if it's really good like everyone is claiming it to be.

Top 3 shows ever, for sure

The way they craft all the symbolism and mythical lore into this series is so masterly done!! Also a lot of German folklore sprinkled in just because they can. The incredible and unique story construction, wow! Baran and Jantje are so creatively intelligent, so crazy talented! I'm in awe!! Love watching Dark! I'd never heard of the show before but I love a good mystery, and the time travel is just such a great cherry on top. It's a lot of fun watching an episode and trying to pick out as many details as I can, It's such a great story, delivered and executed so well. It deserves more hype than it already gets.
