Leah Remini: Self - Guest

Quotes

  • Self - Guest : because you're like saying "Well, is it like other faiths?" But you could be kind of "forgiven", unless you make an "actual statement"

Self - Host : what kind of "statement"? What do I have to say?

Self - Host : [after Remini and the audience laughs]  this is very exciting, next season, your back with Kevin James

    Self - Guest : yes

Self - Host : on "Kevin Can Wait"

    Self - Guest : yes

Self - Host : doing what? I mean, again, their gonna go" Why is the pretty girl..."

Self - Guest : [interrupts him, explaining the plot]  at the end of the first season, I played his partner

    Self - Host : yeah?

Self - Guest : we were cops together

    Self - Host : yeah

Self - Guest : so, I just come back as that character

Self - Host : and you came on for a couple episodes last year and people loved it and go "Why not Leah Remini"?

Self - Guest : I love that, it's an amazing feeling

Self - Host : do you ever think because of people in your former "not a faith" as you say, is there a fear of leaving Scientology? That you won't work again?

Self - Guest : no, I "felt" it was just the opposite, I always "felt" there was "something " about me that people were scared of because I was in the organization. As a matter of fact, when I left and when I get close to people in the business, they would say "I never understood how you be in this cult" but I was in it as a child, a lot of these people were "brought in" as children and didn't really have a choice. So, no I just feel the opposite, I've been "embraced" by Hollywood, I've been "embraced" by our audience and so have our contributors and for that we are so grateful

  • Self - Guest : you're such a gentlemen

    Self - Host : am I?

Self - Guest : you walked me over, you held my hand the way over here

Self - Host : [jokingly]  you have the high heels, I don't want you to snap an ankle: we have insurance

Self - Guest : that doesn't mean anything

    Self - Host : it doesn't?

Self - Guest : [holds his hand]  your wife taught you well

Self - Host : my wife always said never sit before your female guest sits, just like in public, don't ever do that

Self - Guest : see? Was I not wrong that she trained you?

Self - Host : if you're saying something positive about my wife, your never wrong

Self - Guest : [jokingly]  and now you will get laid for saying that

    Self - Host : [chuckles]  we'll see

Self - Host : [after she laughs]  hey, congratulations, you've got two Emmy nominations for this documentary series you're doing for A&E, for season one "Scientology and the Aftermath." Now this is your first Emmy nomination, right?

    Self - Guest : yes

    Self - Host : that's amazing

    Self - Guest : isn't that crazy?

Self - Host : [referring to her role on The King of Queens with Kevin James]  after all these years, you didn't get one for playing the hot wife with the doughy" guy?

Self - Guest : no, the "doughy" guy, I love his "dough"

Self - Host : [while looking down at his notecards]  of course, let's talk about season two "Scientology and the Aftermath", starts Tuesday August fifteenth here on the A&E. You were in the Church of Scientology for thirty-five years, is the Church "cool" with you doing this documentary?

Self - Guest : [while the audience laughs and she rubs his cheek]  no

Self - Host : were you "surprised" how "uncool" they are with it?

Self - Guest : I knew the "policies" of Scientology has "policies" the writings of L. Ron Hubbard, that's "followed" to a T", unlike a "real religion"

Self - Host : [after the audience chuckles]  what's "Dianetics?" There's "Dianetics" and "Beyond Dianetics" are the writings?

Self - Guest : everything in Scientology is written down

Self - Host : the text?

Self - Guest : the technology

Self - Host : I love the terminology: KSW, I take that very seriously

Self - Guest : what does that mean?

Self - Host : [referring to the acronym]  "Keeping Scientology Working"

Self - Guest : you almost flubbed it but yes, that's right

Self - Host : [referring to the Operating Thetan within the religion]  that's why I'm only OT Level One. What OT Level did you reach?

    Self - Guest : five

Self - Host : ok, is that "good?"

    Self - Guest : yes

Self - Host : what is that...?

Self - Guest : [interrupts him]  well, it meant that I've "cleared" all my "beings" that are "attached" to my body

    Self - Host : yeah?

Self - Guest : from sickness, that I "cured" myself from all "illness"

Self - Host : and did that "actually work?"

    Self - Guest : I don't know

  • Self - Host : did you get "ill"?

Self - Guest : yes, we all get "ill"

Self - Host : did you get "ill", less than other people?

Self - Guest : no but you "believe" that you are

Self - Host : was there a "value" for "that?"

Self - Guest : not for "that" but in the beginning Scientology teaches very basic morals and concepts, it teaches you how to do your finances, how to "communicate better", not that I "achieved" that clearly. It starts very slowly and of course there are "things" in the beginning that are helpful but as you go and as you get further "indoctrinated", you can't get out without huge damage to yourself and to your family. And if you decide to leave and speak out as most do, their "policy" says to attack

Self - Host : do you believe it's a religion at all?

    Self - Guest : no

Self - Host : why not? Because a "system of thought", even if it's "destructive" in some people's eyes, how is that "less" of a religion than my "belief" in angels?

Self - Guest : you can choose to believe or not believe in angels and also Scientology is a business: you have to pay before you can go up the chart of Scientology and by the end of this Scientology "bridge", you're in it half a million dollars

Self - Host : how long have you've been out of Church of Scientology?

Self - Guest : I've been out about five years

Self - Host : [jokingly]  ok, and are you "shopping" for a new religion?

    Self - Guest : I'm not

    Self - Host : you're not?

Self - Guest : but again, I have an "issue" calling it another "religion"

Self - Host : [rephrasing his question]  ok, are you "searching" for another "religion" right now?

Self - Host : [jokingly]  can I interest you in...

Self - Guest : [interrupts him]  I've always been Catholic

Self - Host : you've always been Catholic?

Self - Guest : I was baptized a Catholic and I baptized my daughter a Catholic

Self - Host : and can you be a Catholic and a Scientologist at the same time?

Self - Guest : no, although they "promote" that you "can", that is a lie. When you get to the "confidential levels" of Scientology that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, you find out that God is a "lie" to Scientologists

Self - Host : what'd you mean by that?

Self - Guest : they say that "God is a lie." There is no such thing as "God"

Self - Host : then where 's the "tech" actually coming from?

Self - Guest : you believe that the "tech" is coming from L. Ron Hubbard

Self - Host : is he "dead?"

Self - Guest : in the Scientologists' mind, his body is dead

Self - Host : and where's the "rest?"

Self - Guest : have you seen 1984?

    Self - Host : yeah

Self - Guest : ok, would you call that a "religion"?

Self - Host : [while thinking it over]  no, that's a "fascist regime that crushes the... face of a man forever underneath the hobnail boot," that's what it's described as

    Self - Guest : exactly

Self - Host : [confused]  oh ok, so...

Self - Guest : so, the stories we tell of people's real pain, these are not people going on our program to gain "notoriety" or "fame", these are people going on our show, knowing their going to be shunned and attacked. Within hours of our show airing, people have hate websites built of them from Scientology, do you know of another religious organization that does that?

Self - Host : am I going to have a hate website for having you on?

Self - Guest : your "towing the line" a little bit

    Self - Host : what'd you mean?
