This was a tough, but brilliant episode.

There have been many episodes of Silent Witness over the years that I would class as a tough watch, but this must surely class as the toughest of the lot. A brilliantly made episode which dealt with a tragic story. Superb performances all round, but how good was the actor playing Kevin, he was just marvellous, a true and honest performance. Charlie Creed Miles manages to be a villain with such ease, his character made me feel sick to my stomach. Great to get more backstory for Clarissa, such a sad past, but as always Liz Carr dazzles in every single scene, she is becoming the best of the main characters. Harrowing and massively controversial, but brilliant.

Hard to Watch
Hitchcoc19 May 2019
This episode gets into the ugliness of the treatment of mentally handicapped people. The episode begins with a woman who is drugged dying in a car when she runs into a truck. She has a son living in a home. He is aggressive and violent, but the place he lives in is a horror. He is mistreated and verbally abused. There is a young woman who lives next door to him with whom he has a relationship. We are introduced to the abuser. There is a second case that will be interesting to watch. The episode ends tragically.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually bother reviewing episodes of any series because they are just part of an on-going show. But, One Day had me teary-eyed for almost the entire story. It was a tough tale about a care-giving home and since there have been quite a lot about ill-treatment and abuse in the past couple years in such places the story was very relevant. It was a hard show to watch because of the abuse, but also because of the apathy and disregard for human life and wellbeing.

This however shouldn't come as a shock because we are a very inhuane modern culture. Just look over the past decade and you will notice, if you allow yourself the time to look, that we have lost that part of ourselves that make us, what we believe to be, human. A person who cares about the wellbeing of others and therefore is concerned of the treatment of those who can't voice or convey their needs and feelings in a way we can understand. Or, rather that we care to take the time to actually listen because it would inconvenience us.

I am so amazed at the care taken by the writers to actually tell a story that shined a light at all the various side characters and views.

Also, we get a look at Clarissa's backstory. Thank you for this dear writers.

Warning: Spoilers
The writer Timothy Prager has delivered a top notch script/story in this two part episode. Having worked as a dietitian in care homes/nursing homes for several years, this story got my interest right away. I wanted to know which uncomfortable truths the episodes would tell.

Adults in care, such as those portrayed here, experience abuse and gain independence is these homes. The outer appearance of the homes masks the abuse in these episodes. The character Clarissa and the two adult clients are the real stars, and all three give amazingly real performances. The villainous carer is so scary to watch. Kudos to the casting director for hiring such skilled actors.

Those investigating the unexplained death of a woman in a car crash come off as caring and clueless at times. The most painful truth is that adults in care are often not listened to, and their opinions don't matter to some carers and even family. One Day refers to the dream of the character Serena to visit a park she has found a picture of in a magazine. She does visit it, and tragedy ensues. These episodes will stay with me for a while.

A Great Episode But....

Warning: Spoilers
Continuing with the Title yes I enjoyed this touchy subject of Dealing with the mistreatment Of the Handicapped as the Episode but Seriously was there any reason for the Absolute Idiot and lack of Just everyday knowledge of the Officer Mark Button?

Some of his comments were unbelievable and Showed him to be as Thick As Mince.

I would love to think in the real world we don't employ or promote individuals with this intelligence within the Police Force.

This Character Spoiled the episode in my opinion and for such a serious episode there was really no need for his personality to be displayed Like it was.
