Filmed with the cooperation of actual Swiss professional team Young Boys Bern. Filming locations include their Stade de Suisse stadium and training ground. The filmmakers stated that they felt extremely welcome and that there was no censorship from the team on how the issue of a possibly-gay soccer player played out. One board member stated that the film depicted a realistic reaction from the team.
In France, was released on DVD a month before coming out in cinemas.
Director Marcel Gisler stated that during making the film he met Marcus Urban, a former professional player who stopped his career in football in 1990s at 22 to come out. He said that he just couldn't handle the depression and hide any longer. He turned to an engineering career, and as seen in the film, he's the real inspiration for the lead actors.
The idea of writing the film began in 2010, and to overcome the obstacles of funding and filming locations, the director and writers used their relations to collaborate with two clubs: The Swiss FC Young Boys Berne (short: YB) and The German FC St. Pauli. It gave common and mutual benefit to both parties.
