More than a decent Estonian film
BeneCumb16 December 2018
True, the benchmark (prison) is not for everyone, the script is not smooth and it seems the filmmakers had limited resources, there are too many scenes and characters without any significance to the course of events (mostly good Estonian actors who usually co-star at least)... But the fine performances of the stars (Tõnu Kark, Sergei Makovetski) and some bright-line smaller-part-performers provide this film with a certain touch, both via giggling and tragic moments. At least, Rohelised kassid is not boring/annoying, it is without long static frames for the sake of "profundity", but I opine that it does not address the audience outside Estonia too much; for us, it includes a lot of joy of recognition, the actors and actress known of their versatility, and some out-of-proportion humour and scenes visible in the film director´s other production.
