I am the first one to write the comment in IMDb for In the Name of People. Beginning in 2005, the anti-corruption TV series have withdrawn from the prime time of most TV stations in the Chinese Mainland. Now in 2017，In the Name of People gets high ratings. Until now，I have already finished reading the book and followed the story of the drama. Indeed, some audiences consider that its drama is not very attractive. They believe that some of the characters in this drama are too typify and formalist. For these comments, I put forward some of my ideas and points out the advantage of the plot, to illustrate that In the Name of People worth watching.
In contrast, the American TV series House of Cards and the South Korean TV series Punch，which is also in the same large-scale to tear the veil of hypocrisy of some officials and show the dark nature of the reality of the politics, do not focus on the creation of small faults of characters, but on the swing of the answer between the "good" and "evil" when characters are in the face of problems, For the solution to the problem, they show hesitations in the choice between "good" and "evil". For born in poverty with no family background, even if all aspects are excellent in his college life, Qi Tong Wei was sent to the mountain towns of judicial offices. Because he had a gun battle with drug dealers there, who had three bullets in his body, he was award the title of anti-drug hero. Experienced a variety of blows and compared with the smooth future of his classmates, Qi began to become personality distortion. To change the future, Qi showed good to Liang Lu. The advantage of this TV series, in additional to the scene layout matching the reality and the approach for average person to understand the political system of China, suggests a social reality: Social Cass Stratification. It means that the way for the bottom to the upper is becoming more and more and only focus on the marriage, the education and the sudden wealth. In the plot, the example is not only Qi Tong Wei but also Hou Liang Ping who can overcome any difficulty like superman. He achieved the final success of anti-corruption because he had power and, of course, greater power to support him. That means he use the power to anti-corruption, not the legal.
All in all, the defects of In the Name of People cannot belittle its virtues. It is an excellent TV series.

Many viewers in mainland China think that Qi Tongwei, the director of public security in the play, is just a money-loving person. Of course, he has a unique charm of the villain.

This is a gripping good paced anti-corruption drama series. It focuses on the investigation is headed by Hou Liangping, a bold and intelligent young officer from the Supreme People's Procuratorate. As the drama unfolds, a lot of characters are introduced- this can be hard to follow and confusing at times. There were many times I had to backtrack and remind myself the characters' part in the series. As I do not understand mandarin very well, I do rely on the subtitles and I have to read very fast. At the beginning of the series when a lot of characters were being introduced. It was a challenge. The story does not only center on the investigation but also show the personal and family side of the individuals. Acting and cast is superb. Music fits well with scenes. Cinematography is good. Very good series.
