A stud for Christmas
Quarantaine20 December 2022
The main focus is on two mothers whose lives have taken a turn to ongoing painful territories. These ladies are so lost that they are unable to reach out for help. Inari Niemi's writing and directing explore these characters' inner pain with the necessary dare. She keeps us hooked by cleverly revealing the pains at stake often delicately between the lines only. Interestingly, a supporting role - a pain free seducer stud, brings a lot of light to the midwinter darkness. The way he plows against the stream gives us our sought after relief. Sightings of jokes, being as extinct as Santa in the summer, is a letdown. The cast being decorated with names like Martti Suosalo, and being practically woke free, -a plus.

Good movie

Movie about how you have to live with your choices you make in your live, and also how you can stop and say that the choice was wrong. Good actors, feel good movie. I don't like the name.

Grown-up RomCom ... of sorts
mrglenngrant29 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I found this on Netflix and added it to my Xmas watchlist - 'cos I love Finnish telly - but didn't get round to it until the 28th ... so broke my 'no Xmas films after Xmas' rule to watch it.

My reasoning was that it wasn't a Xmas film necessarily ... it was a film set at Xmas - like Die hard and Home Alone. This proved true and so it was just a very nicely made and well acted movie about love and relationships. At Xmas time.

To call it - or describe it as - a RomCom is more than a little generous. It has comedic moments but overall it's rather dark and thoughtful.

Didn't like the ending. I'd have preferred a more Hollywood happy ending where the couipl;e end up together would have been my preference. Instead we're led to believe that she goes back to her husband. Boo.

Overall, a good watch with a slightly disappointing and unsatisfying ending.

77/100.
