By chance, Detective Guro stumbles upon a case where the junior law clerk, Nikolai Gogol, is experiencing a seizure. Turns out, these experiences include powerful crime-solving visions.
Gogol's revival only causes greater uproar in the village and the police chief accuses him of all the murders. Alexey makes an offer that Oksana cannot refuse. On the brink of death by hanging, Gogol is saved by a few unexpected heroes.
A seasoned detective rummages through Gogol's notes. Vakula, a religious man, pleads with Gogol for his daughter, who was born with a tail. Gogol suggests to seek aid from the Doctor.
A curfew is issued in the village as more and more young girls go missing within a matter of days. Gogol begins to take control of his visionary power. A cult of animal, mask-wearing elites have brainwashed many young and innocent women.
The horseman's bloody marking begins to across the village, causing hysteria among the people. A ritual murder is carried out by a dark worshiper, who is later trapped and taken into police custody.
Gogol attempts to convince Lisa she's in danger, but her husband Alexey assures her safety. Oksana shows Gogol the origins of his power. As tensions begin to rise, Oksana pays Lisa a surprise visit.
As Gogol takes over the investigation, a new case arises in the midst of chaos. Oksana explains the scope of Gogol's power, but warns that his love for Lisa may stand in the way of taking full advantage.
