Delta City Shuffle: The Making of 'Robocop 3' (2017)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Director-writer Fred Dekker, cinematographer Gary Kibbe, producer Patrick Crowley, actors Nancy Allen and Bruce Locke and production designer Hilda Stark are interviewed for this thirty-eight minute documentary that takes a look at the making of and eventual failure of ROBOCOP 3. Dekker starts off talking about NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and THE MONSTER SQUAD and how both of them bombed at the box office so he was happy to get a chance to direct this. He talks about Frank Miller's original script and why it was re-written. From here we hear from Allen who talks about why she decided to come back for the third film. The rest of the time is full of wonderful stories detailing what went wrong with the movie. Dekker has become a cult favorite over the years and I really loved his comments here as he openly speaks about what he thinks went wrong with the film and yes he blames himself. His comments are certainly wonderful to hear and you've got to respect someone for taking the blame on something as well as putting certain rumors to rest. Fans of the film will certainly enjoy this documentary.
