In the opening scene, the "dead" body is very visibly breathing when the camera is on it.
Circa 1991, Annie Kaplan makes a reference to songs about Amarillo, Texas and mentions one by Rob Zombie. The song she is referencing is "Two-Lane Blacktop" which was released in 2003.
Assuming that the show is set in 2017, Aram earlier said that Kathryn Nemec ("Mister Caplan") disappeared 26 years ago (ie) in 1991 when she - presumably - assumed the identity of her murdered lover Annie Caplan. When they first met in a bar a few months before, Sophie B Hawkins' "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" was playing in the background; however the single was only released at the end of March 1992.
The opening scene, stated to take place in 1962, features a modern drop ceiling in a funeral home. Since patents on suspended ceiling features were only granted in the late fifties, and began to appear in more upscale commercial settings (like malls) during the sixties, they would not have been in common use at that time.
