Not so much a war story

Warning: Spoilers
The movie itself did not have a high budget, which could excuse some lack of things you would expect from a major group film.

Personally, I found that the movie lacked a proper exposition - it jumps directly into the story and the audience is left to guess who these actors are and why they are significant. I felt that the lack of introduction mislead who the two protagonists were and their relationship to each other. It was quite entertaining to unravel it myself throughout the film by what had been shown in several significant scenes, though.

Other than a lack of exposition, the screen had several prolonged, awkward shots of characters where it seemed that the prolonging had no significance to the plot.

The movie claims to be the story of two who journey to Ukraine during the crisis to assist the Ukrainian army, but I wholeheartedly believe that the meaning of the film had not much to do with war as with the relationship of the two protagonists. A tragic love story. Their mystery shrouded relationship seemed to be the beginning of the not-so-well understood journey they put themselves on and sudden choices which determined their fate.
