Witty and entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
The title "Revolting Rhymes Part Two" already gives away that these 27 minutes we have here are the sequel to another film with the same title. Just like that one, it is made by those who were also in charge of the Oscar-nominated Gruffalo and "Room on the Broom". It runs for under half an hour and it's a British production in the English language that was made for the 2016 holidays. And the film is packed with fairy tale references as the movie starts and ends with Red Riding Hood while including in-between alternate versions of "Cinderella" and "Jack and the Beanstalk". It was pretty entertaining I would say. I also really liked the ending, maybe the best part of the film. In-between, it has a length here and there, but nonetheless I think that this one here is not only worth checking out, but even superior to the first. I give it a thumbs-up and it's a good watch, not just in December. See it if you like animation.

Don't Cry Wolf

First, any intelligent middle schooler and any age above that will find the interconnected series of Roald Dahl poems unexpectedly funny; creatively twisty; a bit disturbing; and in the end perhaps morally instructional. Cinderella, Red Riding, Wolf, Pigs, Jack, Snow have their true (supposedly) now intersecting stories told. Second, the animations; compositing; modeling; renderings; voice acting and subtle background music all complete a well thought out first rate production. Third, the detailed subtleties/nuances in the characters and their actions (the awkward smile; the tilt of the head; the shifty eyes) keep you completely absorbed into that character.

Roald Dahl Is King Of Children's Books

I have reviewed this the same as the previous episode as I strongly believe that they should be view as one item.

These half hour animated films are beautiful crafted as you can see elements of Quentin Blake's illustrations. There was never going to be anyway to create them perfectly and still make them soft enough to be lovable. I believe the animators struck the right balance. As for the vocal talents, well I have to say that this has the best cast I've ever heard. The voice of the big bad wolf not only holds menace and threat but also humour and affection.

I would recommend everybody to check these short animations out - they are beautiful, scary, and funny - absolutely awesome.

Revolting Rhymes Part Two

Warning: Spoilers
It turns out the wolf wants revenge for the deaths of his beloved nephews at the hands of Red Riding Hood. He now enters their house dressed like the babysitter to look after or maybe eat her kids but first they want to have fairy tales read to them. The wolf happily obliges.

He tells them the tale of Jack grows up with his heart set on his neighbour Cindy treated like a maid by her ugly stepsisters. Cindy has her eye on the prince who is holding a disco at the palace.

Jack meanwhile who hates taking baths exchanges the cow for a bean at the magic shop. It sprouts a giant beanstalk in his garden but Jack smells like an Englishman to the giant. It is the lack of baths you see.

The prince meanwhile has promised to marry any girl whose foot fits a shoe but finds out that he prefers to chop off heads. With the treasure Jack finds he opens a jam shop and Cindy prefers true love than be with a prince.

The wolf meanwhile waits for Red Riding Hood to arrive home as she goes out on Friday nights with Snow White.

Together both episodes of Revolting Rhymes had a nice twist on the fairy tales and enjoyed Dominic West's portrayal as the voice of the wolf. The animation just came across as uneven.
