They don't make actresses like Jean Alexander and Corrie don't write characters like Hilda Ogden anymore. So this tribute to the late actress was certainly deserved.
Alexander created a character who we could all identify with, we all knew people like Hilda, and we rooted for her, through the ups and the downs.
This show was well done, because there was a mix of clips, the recreation of the Ogden's house, and thoughts from celebrity fans...including Julian Fellowes, briefly.
It's the type of tribute that ITV tend to do well. And they did here.
