The Jennings investigate entomological warfare tactics whilst Oleg looks into market corruption within the Soviet Union.
This is a strong episode that looks at dodgy dealings on both sides of the Cold War that impact on the Soviet people. I found it pretty compelling, particularly one sequence where the camera focuses on a particular individual in Moscow.
I wondered where the series was going to go after the first few strategic missions. However, I have to say that the grain harvest might not sound quite as sensationalist as military secrets and biological weapons, but considering that it's something that purposely targets civilians, I find it equally as horrifying a concept. If not more so.
All the scenes in Russia were strong and subtitled dialogue does not bother me as it did the previous reviewer who wants the whole world to speak English! That being said the best part involved no dialogue at all when the camera does one brilliant reveal of a certain character (who we know) shopping amongst empty supermarket shelves. Very cleverly done and whether intentional or not it puts a human face to plight of citizens living in the Soviet Union.
The scenes in Yugoslavia were pretty suspenseful and this journey continues to intrigue. I was also compelled by the scenes involving Phillip and Elizabeth and of course Paige.
All visuals are as strong as ever, with great cinematography, editing, use of music and the performances of all cast are great as ever.
