Because its all in black and white, and as the song goes like,'' ebony and ivory , live together in perfect harmony, side by side on the rooftop ,playing drinking, why dont weeeee...'' watch some fireworks??? its a bit flimsy to watch colourfilled sparkling fireworks in black and white isnt it?? though i envy the woman who has that kind of rooftop space with a maximized 360 view above the city on a 4th of july, i my self have a secret spot where i live, that i use to sit in snow and rain and storm gusts nearly blowing me of the cliff, every year at newyears eve, being careless about my wifes anger and despair about my selfishness, there are something about fireworks that make me throw everything over board and and seek into my own coocoon of joy of the thunder and blitz from the fireworks.i love it
but this is a review, and its about a relative young white female widow, living on top of the world, that befriends a very young african-american man, that has seeked refuge on the same rooftop as the woman. he is on the run from a crime never shown, and its a story about the dynamics of two strangers meeting eachother, both struggling their demons. she is deeply depressed and have a hang on the bottle, and he is on the run from the law and other circumstances.
its not a funny movie, its not a film youll learn a lot of, other than being human can be just allright. what i had expected from this experimental film project in black and white, were some sexual interaction, just to fulfill the symbioses of black and white interraciality, but no , nothing of that kind happened, pig you might say, but the path for that kinda interaction were cleared and in the cards. it has not an happy ending, and i think the female should have chosen the a3 or a5 format instead of justifying her choice of the well known a4 format that we all know so well. so there are now twists or take that are new and exciting from the director. the filmography are b/w as you might understand, the focs are at times blurry, the steady cam are too often unsteady, and the sound are at times like ''living in a box''.
i saw this film out of a boring day, i didnot get much satisfaction from it, if its a newbie in the business, ok , from anybody else, not good enough thinks the grumpy old man from 60* N
