If you've seen Minions or Despicable Me, then you are bound to love these minion short films. Bearing in mind that "short" is the key word here! They are just little tasters of what other mischief the yellow fiends get involved in, and they will no doubt make you smile. I enjoyed them very much indeed, and it's perfect for when you don't have time for a movie but you still want to have some fun!

Minions: Mini-Movie - Competition (2015) 4/10

"Minions: Mini-Movie - The Competition" is a 4-minute short film from last year that is connected to the "Minions" full feature film. Let me start by saying I really liked "Despicable Me", I liked "Despicable Me 2", but I did not like the Minions movie I just mentioned. The story is probably worse in that one than the characters are, but it wasn't a convincing watch really. In my opinion, the minions are fine for comic relief that has not really to do with the core plot, but that's basically it. Even for such a short film like this one, i must say they simply did not carry the action unfortunately. Also a bit to see it took 2 writer and 2 directors to come up with something as forgettable as this film here. Really disappointing. The action was uninteresting and the comedy simply wasn't funny. Maybe the Minions have their best days behind them? I am not sure. I hope "Despicable Me 3" proves me wrong. But I cannot recommend this very short film here. Thumbs down.
Cro Minion (2015) 4/10 Not too funny
"Cro Minion" is a 5-minute animated short film from last year and the title already gives away that this is another very short movie starring Pierre Coffin's Minions with the intention that we won't forget these little yellow creatures until the third "Despicable Me" will come out in summer next year. This one here takes place during the age of dinosaurs and the minions end up in charge of a little Neanderthal boy who turns out to be quite a pest. In order to avoid violent punishment from his dad (who is off hunting) the gang needs to make sure he is fine, which becomes especially difficult when a flying dinosaur steals away the kid and flies off with it. But the Minions would not be the Minions if they weren't creative and chaotic enough to bring him back with their very own approach and ideas. Still I must say this little cartoons was not really that funny unfortunately. Here and there was an okay moment, but I did not feel all that well entertained and it seems to become increasingly difficult to construct good stories around the bunch. This one here, I do not recommend. Luckily, it was really short.
Binky Nelson Unpacified (2015) 4/10 Mostly forgettable spin-off
"Binky Nelson Unpacified" is an animated short film from last year that brings back some of the characters from the Minions movie and tells a little story about their baby's lost pacifier. The parents think he has to get along without it, but Binky won't let go and goes on an adventure to the local museum in his attempts to get it back. I personally did not enjoy the watch here. It was never entertaining and the question if he gets it back or not was just never really interesting either. I don't think these characters were interesting enough to be given their own (short) film, even if I kinda like Keaton and Janney and they were a bit wasted here. I am also disappointed with Joubert and Lynch as I expected better from them given the fact that they have delivered in terms of quality and quantity during their careers. This one here is probably among their most forgettable. I don't recommend the watch.
