Irrational Vision: Treating Phobic Reactions
babyjaguar23 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Although this film shows great commitment to independent filmmaking, this film was left scattered. Its story was orginal, but comes off incomplete with a good idea re: modern science/ancient magic as clinical treatment for phobias. Charles Chudabala was great as the neurotic "Doctor Sanders", his acting was at best nearing the climax of the film. This film and its makers have been best appreciated by fans at its screenings being shown with stateside horror-themed conventions/film festivals.

can i find anything positive...
ops-5253530 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
To say about this horror film, yes... its full in inconsistecies and a weatherpattern that does team up with the directors wishes, and its also positive for everyone else that wants to make film, to avoid the issues flaws and glitches that the actors, editor and director make a whole lot of.

to mend some of my damaging points of view, i must tell that this if by far an amatteur made feature length movie, there are a few things that are aspiring but they are microscopical, and the idea of story and plotline and speed could be discussed over and over. one scene has come to my mind as good, its a take where a girl if drawn into the ground my sudden emerging hands, thats really a good take.

otherwise the acting are no more than an afraid looking scriptbound and apathic motionless amateurs in front of the lense for the first time. the professor sanders caracter are excrusionatly bad, and if it was the directors intent to make the actor play as bad as he did, well then ill forgive, otherwise its a joke.

the grumpy old man holds the door open to everyone, and awards a 3 for the effort ,score and locations, the rest have a negative digit. use this as a sparring partner in '' how to avoid flaws'' when moviemaking.

I feel Violated...

1:38.27. That is the amount of time I will NEVER get back from watching this piece of low-budget, TERRIBLE acting, shaky camera crap. It's movies like these that I wish IMDB had a minus scale as far as movies. How...how did something like this even get green-lighted? it was over 2 hours long! The guy who played the professor was so freaking whiny, I gritted my teeth every damn time he talked. I really, REALLY hope everyone in this film watched this and decided that acting was not in their future. I Cannot say enough bad things about this garbage. Please...please don't watch this. It's so awful, SO bad. Peace.

Waste of Time

This just got worse as it went on. The acting is so horrible. It started out with a seemingly good story line but just went downhill so fast. The ketchup-y blood, the weird doctor from the beginning and his progressively worse acting, the fact that there's very little suspense - just horrible.

Lazy writing, terrible acting
benchod_19683 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Where to begin? I enjoy movies with low reviews. Low enough to be amusing, but this is just brutal. Poorly developed characters is one thing, but it's another to focus on one and then kill them off with no explanation, then focus again on another undeveloped character who clearly has no acting experience outside of highschool drama class. Nothing is really explained or revealed other than the doctor being the bad guy. Furthermore, the doctor is the one who has the worst acting skills to the extent of being a cringy redditor tipping his fedora. From one who loves bad movies, this one is so bad that it's unwatchable. Avoid.

Crazy Ride of a movie
mikemazze27 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was scary and well made. Definitely a great crazy ride that gets crazier as the movie progresses.

Jennifer Nangle was awesome as usual. I wish she was in more of the movie. I hope to see more of her! She is a very talented actress and it shows in all of her movies.

Irrational Fears is about Six therapy patients are brought together at a secluded cabin to confront their fears. Turns out they were right to be scared because their fears do a number on them.

This is a solid movie and a great effort by all involved. Irrational Fears is absolutely worth the watch.

Definitely watch this!!!

Solid indie effort with some minor issues
kannibalcorpsegrinder24 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Heading out for a trip together, a troubled young woman and the rest of her therapy group head out to her professors' mountain retreat to continue their treatment together, but when they begin mysteriously disappearing they begin to question their experiences while trying to stay alive from the forces out to kill them.

There was a lot to like with this one. Among it's best features is the impressive nature of bringing the cliched notion of the individuals' fears coming to kill them. The concept employed here of the therapy group coming together for each of their irrational measures as a group allows for this to build some intriguing setups as the group reveals the phobias to work on. The therapy sessions of everyone coming out and admitting how they're afraid of the things they fear are quite fun as the more unconventional and irrational setups for them to overcome are what ends up allowing this part of the film to work as it does. This also brings out quite a lot with its exploitation of their fears coming to life. The opening attack on the victim suffering a breakdown while being attacked by various figures is a fantastic opening, much like the later freakout of the one victim in their car thinking the fear is coming true and crashes as a result. An ambush on another victim out in the woods by pulling them underground is exceptionally creepy and chilling, while later attacks like the encounter in a trapped garage or the bizarre lake sequence feature some enjoyable setups. With a finale that has some fine twists in the setup, a decent amount of action and some solid gore, there are some likable elements here. It does have some flaws to it. One of the films' issues is the exaggerated build-up to their arrival and settling in at the cabin, where we get far too much going on here before finally getting there. It didn't need to hammer home their characters as much as it does, while the lengthy amount of time of them hanging out before everything starts going wrong gets a bit slow at times. The other issue here is the wholly unexplained nature of the strange ooze that's found on their bodies which doesn't get explained how it works, where it comes from or how it affects their bodies since they disappear after being ingested and killed as their bodies are completely gone with no explanation. Keeping it's low-budget in mind, these are the main factors against this one.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Graphic Violence.
