Drama in Istanbul
joydo6 October 2020
"Soap opera" drama in it's best format for those who suffer from dry eyes syndrome - you will definitely squeeze out some tears while watching this. I started watching Anne without any knowledge about it since beforehand. This is also the first Turkish show I have experienced. I got hooked even if I prefer thrillers and horror movies.

In general, it has been interesting to dive in to a new culture (Turkish culture), to see how people live, what they eat, what they wear, how they interact with each other etc, etc. (It's very different from my own culture and country, thus interesting and fun to watch.)

Regarding the story...it is very easy to follow and you get to know all of the characters quite fast. It's a drama roller coaster where you will follow the faith of a little child Melek/Turna being abused by her family and how she grows a deep and loving relationship with her teacher Zeynep.

Is it worth watching? I think yes, if you haven't seen a Turkish show before. The shows disadvantage is that it is a bit too lengthy. Would there be a 1,5 hour movie version, I'd prefer to watch that one.

The stellar acting kept me watching

This is a very emotional family drama which will bring tears to many viewers. The story of a mistreated child who is saved from her torture by a temporary teacher in her school. The development of a strong deep bond of mother and child between both of them is mesmerizing to watch. Beren Gokyildiz as Melek acts amazingly well and is the solid staying reason why I continue with this series. The plot has many holes and can be unbelievable at times but the acting by the entire cast is stellar.

Prepare to cry. Every. Single. Episode.
guykedem-16 December 2018
85 episodes of tear jerking craziness. The kid who plays Malek / Torne is amazing. The rest of cast is telebovela-ish. One exception is Shola, a very real character by wonderful Gonca Vuslateri. You feel her pain in every scene. All in all I'd recommend it if you like the genre. You know what, maybe also if you don't know the genre... worst thing that can happen is that you'll cry 😂😂

The child actress Beren Gokyildiz is brilliant
judaiclay17 July 2022
I loved Beren Gokyildiz in Kizim and she was well matched with the cast and the plot was wonderful.. I watched Anne just because Beren Gokyildiz stars in it. I have to admit that her acting ability in Anne is so extraordinary that many of the adult actors seem like props.

Unlike many of the very talented Turkish child actors, her appeal is not from being cute or adorable, although she is very lovable. Her talent lies in her ability to an incredible range of emotions. She is like a child with an old soul.

Amazingly well done.

This series had me at the edge of my seat and it was very well done. The timing of when to be in the present and bringing up the past. If I could give it an award right now I would. Beautiful way to capture all the type of mothers out here in the world. Thank you for this production.

Absurd Situations!
summermoon-1751325 July 2023
This soap opera is up and down and all around. Again, and again, over and over.

There is one totally absurd situation after another and lots of incredibly hysterical characters. There's also too many sub stories typical of soap operas and constant flash backs. You would have to be a soap opera fanatic to put up with the ridiculous plot.

It's much too long. I had to fast forward half of it to get through it because I wanted to see what happened to the young girl.

The only thing going for this series is very good acting. The child actress won awards for it. She is excellent.

Another reviewer is right. This should have been a 2-hour movie!

I give it 4 starts only for the acting alone.

One of the best soap operas I've seen in a while. That little girl is a good actress and really brings everything to life. I'm in the middle of the story, so far so good.

An emotional roller coaster ride.
tildiz14920 January 2023
Pain, anger, sorrow, love, happiness and more. I felt all of that while I was watching this TV series. I cried on the inside very often when sad things happened.

There are two reasons why I didn´t gave "Anne" a ten star rating. I would have preferred much more varied background music. And also I didn´t like the recap video clips that kept coming back and, all of a sudden, changed. It was a bit confusing for me.

Sule was not a bad mother to Melek/Turna from the very beginning. But almost all of her and Meleks/Turnas problems starts, without any doubt, when Cengiz comes into the picture. He is a violent, jealous, manipulative, selfish, disrespectful trickster with extremely little self-awareness. I got terrified when Cengiz, in one or two scenes, almost cried and seemed more human. I wondered who I was watching. He looked like Cengiz, but it was not his usual personality.

Melek/Turna is very sweet. I think that Zeynep rescued her from a unloving home. Zeynep was really brave and did what was morally right. She treated Melek/Turna as if she was her biological mother. And I understood that.

Gönül also deserves my appreciation. She supports Zeynep and Melek/Turna in many ways, which is nice to see.

So what do I take with me after watching "Anne"? Naturally a deeper love for my family.

To much of the same story line over and over
eunicedj-6876418 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This at the beginning was good but poor little girl going through so much of the same things over and over is crazy . The teacher doesn't even have the common sense of at least disguising themselves through out the whole series how many times can she make the same mistakes ! I was disapointed! If it was the real world they would have took the girl away and not given her back at all. Now the teacher takes the boy too it's just a repeat I've stupid storyline with people that have no common sense . Sometimes the little girl goes days without ever taking a shower or going to school how does anyone not notice . The teachers mother just keeps making the same mistakes over and over trying to protect her daughter .
