Important glance behind the curtains of a war-ridden area
otharius-2502517 January 2017
This is not a thorough review, but merely a plea for a larger audience to see this movie. It revolves around the paramedic, Nori, working in the war-ridden province of Diyala, Iraq.

It is in large filmed by Nori himself, at times with a hand-held camera, and at other times with a mobile phone, and gives a rare insight to the ever deteriorating situation that mares the area.

Rather than writing anymore about this,I urge you to watch it yourselves, to gain a broader understanding revolving the situation concerning so many refugees today.

It is truly worth the watch, albeit at times being both graphic and heartbreaking.

The consequences of War not just the Iraq war

Totally agree with Ottar FS and this is a movie everyone over 13 should see. Younger if you are mature minded.

One quote from the movie blew me away: Wars are planned by the elite, the dumb will die in it, and the opportunists benefit from it.

As good as it gets

Nowhere to Hide shows snippets from ordinary life from about 2010 to 2016 in the town of Jalawl some 100 km north east of Baghdad, Iraq. As the war in the area develops we get to see how it affects a family of six, mom, dad and four small kids. Mostly it's dad in the family, Nori Sharif. Doing the recording. The years recorded includes the time when ISIS took control over Jalawl.

The war scenes are occasionally quite brutal, but not hideous, and give a good feel of what I suspect war really is like. The feeling of authenticity is better in Nowhere to Hide than in any other of the 20 or so documentaries I have seen on the recent wars in the middle east.

The authenticity is the selling point for Nowhere to Hide, and is there anything mattering more? Everyone needs to realize how awful war is for the civilian population. See this one!
