Clash of Champions is more like Brash of Champions. It was a show full of headaches.

Warning: Spoilers
The first Raw branded pay-per view event, following their second WWE brand extension, which happened back in Sept. 2016, WWE 'Clash of Champions' was a show that could had been better. After all, the 'Raw' show has a larger talent pool roster than the 'Smackdown' show, but they didn't delivered. Most of the show in Indianapolis, Indiana was a mixed bag for me. Let's start with the pre-show match that the crowd at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse saw first. do like, how there was a strong story going into this feud between Nia Jax and Alicia Fox, with Jax injuring Fox's friend. However, the match, itself, wasn't anything special, seeing how their match on September 12 episode of 'Raw' was better, with the barricade spot. It's just sad, that WWE didn't capitalize on continuing this feud after this match. Another extreme match would be great for it. Sadly, it never came. This bring us to the actual show opening with The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) defending the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship against the Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson). I for one, find the 'New Day' kinda getting tiresome, even the promo before the match was kinda boring and pointless. Despite that, I'm one of the few people that love the comedy angle that the Club was going for, leading up to this match. I found the 'Old Day' skit, hilarious. Yet, the match wasn't that good. The weird 'baby-face acting like heel' tactic toward the end was very confusing. It makes the heroes look very weak. Didn't like how this match was booked. They really could had brought something new to the tag team table, instead, of going with the stale predictable results with WWE continuing to pursuit the request to break the (Demolition) Ax and Smash's all-time tag team record of longest WWE tag title reign and the most combined days as reigning champions; just because that old school tag team is currently suing the company for concealing the risks of concussion in the mid to late 1980s/early 1990s. It feels like a blatant jab at Demolition for ratting out the company. Talking about shameless. Anyways, the night got worst, as nobody seem that interested in the Brian Kendrick Vs TJ Perkins match for the Cruiserweight Championship. The reason, why the crowd was really quiet, because they never introduce Perkins to 'Raw' audience, before this PPV. Most fans know, nothing about him, unless they were the smarks that watch the CWC (The Cruiserweight Classic) over the late summer. Because of this, Kendrick got more cheers as a heel than Perkins, because of nostalgic reasons, and the fact that he's more established. It was bad introduction to what Cruiserweight Wrestling can bring to the table in WWE. Still, I did dig Perkins's new theme song. Cesaro Vs Sheamus in Match 7 of their Best of Seven for number 1 contender for the WWE Universal Championship was the match of the night with all the stiff kicks and punches. It really was great. It surprised, a lot of people, seeing how nobody was looking forward to this match, beforehand. The crazy things, they did, was insane. Thank God, both Sheamus and Cesaro weren't seriously hurt! Thought, one of them, got a head concussion. Still, sad to see this match end in a bad way. It's equally as sad, that WWE scrap the fight for the number 1 contendership, and instead, force them to tag team in tag team championship match for the Raw Oct. PPV 'Hell in the Cell', because it really ruin, the reasons of having a Best of Seven gimmick series of matches in the first place. Chris Jericho Vs Sami Zayn was next. Surprising, the match wasn't that good. It was a middle of the field type match with nothing important at stake. Triple Threat Match for the RAW Women Championship was great. Bayley, Sasha Banks and Charlotte did a hell of a job. I really proud to see, how much the division, has improve, since Banks return in July, and with Bayley introduction to the RAW audience, following her exit from 'NXT: Takeover Brooklyn II in Aug.' Roman Reigns vs Rusev for the WWE United States Championship was next. While, the match was not that great; it wasn't bad. It was just mediocre, at best. Honestly, I have nothing against Reigns, but I really don't like, how this feud been doing. Reigns seems more like the heel than Rusev. The match for the WWE Universal Championship was next, between champion, Kevin Owens and challenger, Seth Rollins. Alright match for the most part with intense high spots. Yet, with all of interferences, it kinda ruin for me, what could had been a great match. Still, following the PPV, both Rollins and Owens did received a standing ovation from the live crowd, so good for them that they got to end the show. Overall: This show was just meh. It remind me, so much of the previous 'Clash of Champions' from the old WCW (World Championship Wrestling) promotion days. The reasons, why, is in the way, the card was built, with certain matches, working, and others not, so well. I never understood, why WWE would use an old rival company's fail pay per view title, anyways, instead of their own great title, 'Night of Champions', but honestly, if I had a choice, I would stick with 'Night of Champions', thank you very much. Still, if I was going to change it, with a previous WCW PPV; I would go with 'Fall Brawl'. At least, that makes a little more sense, seeing how this event takes place in Sept. 'Clash of Champions' doesn't even have champion vs champion matches on the card. It makes no sense. Anyways, while 'Clash of Champions' was not the champion in my eyes. It still was a show, worth watching. At least, once.

Is SmackDown Live the better show now?
NileFortnerBoogieBuddha95426 September 2016
I am still not sure why WWE has changed the name from Night of Champions to Clash of Champions. I was expecting that this might be a new era for the event. A new better network special, and a breath of fresh air for the event. WWE has been on a roll with the WWE Network lately. Everything from the glorious NXT, to the cruiserweight classic, and I even enjoyed the return of the SmackDown PPV Backlash. On the other hand, it seems to me that the RAW shows, PPV's, and events have been suffering, and WWE SmackDown Live is better than WWE's "A" show, Monday Night Raw.

In my opinion, lately RAW has been suffering. Don't get me wrong, the division of performers are great. We get great matches, performers, women changing the world of wrestling, new wrestlers getting pushed, the return of cruiserweights, and more. However, compared to SmackDown Live, or even NXT for that matter. RAW does not really have any story, character development, or a series of stories that develop over time, it is predictable, and it really showed at WWE Raw's Clash of Champions.

Overall, the show suffered from lack of character development and strong storytelling. The wrestling was great, but I would love to see great matches with great stories behind them. In my opinion, this show was not as good as Backlash, and it made SmackDown and NXT look like the stronger shows. The show was predictable, a little bland, no follow up with Triple H, and only made me care to see WWE's future PPV for SmackDown No Mercy. I believe WWE Clash of Champions 2016 earns…
