The Tomb Raider TV series is moving forward at Amazon.
A year and change after The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge was writing and producing an adaptation of the popular video game turned action movie Tomb Raider, the retail giant/streamer has handed out a series order for the live-action series. A worldwide casting search will begin soon for an actress to play Lara Croft in the series from Legendary Television.
The surprise announcement was made Tuesday during Amazon’s first trip to woo Madison Avenue ad buyers at TV’s upfront week in New York, with the news arriving after another video game adaptation, Fallout, has become a breakout hit for the service.
Waller-Bridge is writing the scripts for Tomb Raider. The Fleabag grad does not plan to star in the TV adaptation of the property, which spawned 2001 and 2018 film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander,...

Stellar Blade is a title that has been one of the most anticipated titles this year, and despite initially receiving flak from critics and the gaming fraternity for its art style, it was still appreciated for its core elements.
However, after the game’s reveal, many gamers dismissed the title, calling it a Nier Automata clone, and the comparisons haven’t ended even after the game’s release. While in hindsight, the hack-and-slash element and the female protagonist are the two common elements, they are fundamentally different titles.
The Similarities between Stellar Blade and Nier Automata Stellar Blade and Automata have a lot of things in common.
When one loads up the game, the first impression that it receives is based on its graphics. While both games look fantastic, Nier Automata came out in 2016, loosely eight years before Stellar Blade. Hence, the difference in graphical fidelity is noticeable between the two titles.

While Elon Musk may enjoy diving into the world of Elden Ring, not everything about the gaming community is to his liking. The former CEO of X likes to take to the platform and vent his grievances, and he has done the same regarding the Sweet Baby Inc. controversy.
Sweet Baby Inc. has been in the news for a while now, and the reputation they have gained over the past few weeks has not been the best. If anything, they have reignited the culture war between progressives and conservatives, with Elon Musk now throwing his opinion into the mix as well.
Musk May Not Have Enjoyed Elden Ring if Sweet Baby Inc. Was Involved

The release of the first episode of Life Is Strange in January 2015 was met with astonishing success. After the commercial failure of their action-adventure game Remember Me in 2013, Life Is Strange was Dontnod Entertainment’s calculated efforts to be a recognizable force in the gaming world. Life Is Strange is centered around the rewind mechanic, giving players an immersive experience to rewind and alter time and choices. Released in a time when most adventure games were created with defined story arcs and endings, Life Is Strange quickly stood out for its possible alternate endings based on in-game character choices.

If getting (mostly) on the other side of a pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the looming specter of mass death really has a way of realigning your priorities. That mood hits especially different in the world of Montreal-based developer KO_OP’s Goodbye Volcano High, a game which posits that prehistoric life on Pangaea was a very modern, 21st-century kind of situation. Prehistoric high school in particular is a perennial genderqueer maze of entanglements, crushes, awkwardness, puberty, half-formed ambitions, and parental expectations that just so happen to be populated by anthropomorphic, animated dinosaurs.
In the middle of it all is Fang, a burgeoning musician who spent their summer vacation undergoing a full-blown mood change, from a very femme pop-punk to a moody, sardonic enby who keeps being deadnamed in the notes left on the fridge by their ever-absent parents. With their friends scattered to the four winds for the summer,...

Amazon is building a Tomb Raider franchise.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the retail giant and streamer has teamed with Dmitri M. Johnson’s dj2 Entertainment for a massive rights deal to make a Tomb Raider feature film, in addition to the newly announced TV series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge and at least one video game in the Lara Croft franchise.
The idea is to build out a connected world of Tomb Raider, with the video game, TV series and film all interconnected in a fashion akin to what Marvel has already accomplished. The Tomb Raider video game was announced in December, with additional games in the franchise considered likely.
One source with knowledge of the pact described it as being among the largest commitments at Amazon after Lord of the Rings. By comparison, Amazon is estimated to have spent 250 million on rights alone to Lord of the Rings, with...

To non-gamers, the most famous person on Mythic Quest, Rob McElhenney’s workplace comedy set at a gaming company, is probably its creator and star. Or maybe it’s F. While her role as Rachel on the sitcom, where she’s also a writer, is a supporting one, in the gaming industry, Burch is a bona fide star. I’m a fan of the Life is Strange franchise and have been since the very first episode of the first game was released back in January of 2015. The first game, the Before the Storm mini-game and Life is Strange 2 were all, in my view, fantastic games with wonderful stories and well-drawn characters. When news dropped that Life is Strange: True Colours, the third full-length game in the franchise, was going to be released, I was excited. So, was the excitement worth it? Does the game live up the hype? Is it as good as the others that preceded it? Let’s talk about that…
Life is Strange: True Colours follows the story of Alex Chen, a young woman who moves to a new town, Haven Springs, to live with her brother and begin a new life, or try to. She’s been through the foster system and children’s homes,...

When I read ‘Dust’ months ago, I remember enjoying it and curious to find out where it went after that cliffhanger ending. It’s been a long wait to see the next few chapters but I have to be honest…I’m not sure what to think about this one. In some ways, there are elements of this that feel very much like a fanfiction piece and it removes a lot of enjoyment for me.

Max may be enjoying life in the sun but there’s something wrong here as this isn’t the Chloe she remembers. In this timeline, Chloe is a lot happier because she hasn’t been through a lot...

We’ve reached the end of a very long road. Sean and Daniel’s journey is over in its entirety. Over this past year and three months of watching their story, it’s warmed and broke my heart so often. Their relationship has made everything very worthwhile. I’ve never seen a game that so accurately captures what it’s like to be a sibling and the love and sacrifices that can come with it. As Daniel asks, “How does the story of the Wolf Brothers end?”. Depending on how choices, it’s either very bittersweet or tragic but in any case, each ending is incredibly satisfying for your choices and how you’ve shaped Sean and Daniel.
Taking place seven weeks after the events of ‘Faith’, Sean and Daniel have been peacefully living in a desert commune with their mother (Karen) and a whole bunch of people who left society behind them.

When it comes to penultimate acts, the Life is Strange series has a strong past. Both Dark Room and Brave New World are highlights of their respective seasons. It could be hard for the fourth episode of Life is Strange 2 to reach that mark, though. Coming off Wastelands, the strongest episode of the sequel so far, Faith is a challenging follow-up. It’s been a tough road for Sean and Daniel, and it’s only gotten harder.
When we last left the brothers Diaz, a botched robbery had left them without jobs, and Sean without an eye. Faith begins a few months after the previous episode. Sean is hospitalized from his injuries and is still rehabbing the injury to his eye. The bad news continues as the older brother is only a day away from being sent away to juvie. With Daniel still missing, though, Sean realizes he has to find a way out.

When episode one of Life is Strange 2 was first released last year, we had the impression that it would show the reality of a Mexican family living in Trump’s America. Other than a few small references here and there, we have not really seen a whole lot of this, until now. The penultimate episode of Life is Strange 2 has Sean venturing out on his own as the story takes an unexpected turn. With emotions running high and with Daniel out of the picture we get to see a new side of Sean and just how much the journey so far has taken a toll on him.
Episode four takes place around two months after the climax of the previous episode. Sean has recently awoken from a coma, is now blind in one eye, in police custody, and is mere days away from being sent to a juvenile detention facility.

Let’s have a little recap on Episode 3: Wastelands ending. Daniel had a freak telekinetic outburst which injured multiple people. Once the dust had settled, the episode ended on a shot with Sean unconscious and bleeding. There was a glass shard embedded in his eye and Daniel had gone missing.
Faith picks up two months after that incident. Sean has recovered from being in a coma for a few weeks but is half-blind. He’s at his lowest point yet clouded in mental anguish and physically broken, under arrest in the hospital and desperately wanting to find his little brother. Upon breaking out and finding a lead as to where Daniel is, it’s a journey to find Daniel and that’s all I can say without spoiling many of the twists and turns along the way.

This edition features a gaggle of trailers for forthcoming movies, games and TV including The Boys, The Umbrella Academy, The Exorcism of Karen Walker, Painkillers, Resident Evil 2, and Life is Strange 2.
The Boys
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark...

If I had to sum up my experiences with the previous Life is Strange installments. I would say that I liked it but I didn’t love it. I went into the second main entry with the same expectations and by the end of Roads, I ended up thinking that this was the experience the internet told me I would have with the first game: Hard-hitting, touching and something to fall in love with.
As said in my Captain Spirit review, you do not need to play the original Life is Strange in order to play this. You can jump right into Life is Strange 2 without any knowledge of previous games in the series.
In Life is Strange 2, you play as sixteen-year-old Sean Diaz. At the start of Roads, Sean’s life is pretty normal. He goes to parties, he stresses about how to talk to his crush and is rather directionless about his future.

With the new episode of Life is Strange 2 ‘Rules’ getting closer to its release, it makes sense to review the prequel to it: The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. This Dlc came out long before we knew anything about Life is Strange 2 so playing it again after playing through the first episode of LiS2 makes the Dlc a bit different.
You don’t need to have played any of Life is Strange beforehand to play this Dlc. There are little Easter Eggs for fans to enjoy but other than that, it is its own thing. On a serious note, since this could be triggering, I will mention that The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit contain themes such as abuse, alcoholism and grief in its two-hour campaign if you choose to play it. While I do recommend playing this Dlc for reasons I’ll mention in this review, it can be...

Heading out to Paris Games Week 2018? Here's what you need to know about France's biggest video game expo!
Paris Games Week, France's largest games expo of the year, is finally here. There will even be a bit of Fortnite and Pubg at this year's show.
While this year's show won't feature any big conferences -- like last year's Sony showcase -- you should expect a show floor full of titles. Below, you'll find a list of just some of the games that will have a presence at the expo.
Those hoping that Sony would return for another conference in Paris should know that the publisher has decided to lay low for the rest of the year, which means that...

The sequel to Dontnod Entertainment’s Life is Strange (2015) is finally here and introduces us to a story that is bigger and more relatable than what we saw in the first game and its prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm (2017). Life is Strange 2 not only tells a touching story of brotherly love but also not so subtly touches upon serious subject matters relative to modern day America in the typical Life is Strange aesthetic that we all know and love.
Life is Strange 2’s story is told over the course of five episodes and takes us away from Arcadia Bay, Oregon, leaving behind beloved characters and dropping us into Washington state and the lives of 16-year-old Sean Diaz and his younger brother Daniel, both of whom we very briefly met in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit (2018). Sean is a relatable high school teenager who when we first meet...

The official “Life is Strange 2” reveal trailer debuted on Monday, giving fans their first true meeting with Sean and Daniel Diaz, the brothers the new adventure will follow.
Following a “tragic event” that involves the police and what appear to be the remnants of a telekinetic accident, the brothers must flee their Seattle home in an effort to avoid being thrown in jail, or worse, separated. The pair plan on crossing all the way down into their family’s native town of Puerto Lobos, Mexico. It’s a long and treacherous journey, especially for a pair of young boys, but as they size up the situation it seems like the last hope for a better life after what’s transpired.
Players will take on the role of Sean, who’s tasked with making life-changing decisions while navigating the countryside with his brother Daniel, which will run the gamut from simple everyday choices to important,...

With the first episode of Dontnod Entertainment’s Life is Strange 2 set to drop in late September, the developer has released a first look teaser trailer with a promise that all will be revealed later this month.
Other than when episode one will be released, we know very little about Life is Strange 2. Earlier this year Dontnod released The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, a 2-hour free to play title that served as a glimpse into Life is Strange 2. While this title left fans speculating as to what was to come, hints were subtle and no plot details were confirmed.
The newly released teaser trailer shows the view from a police officer’s dashboard camera as he drives through a suburban neighbourhood. After spotting a fight, he pulls his car over and exits his vehicle. A few seconds pass before the police officer along with his car are pushed back...

It seems new superpowers will play a role in “Life is Strange 2,” based on a trailer released Thursday by Dontnod.
The new teaser trailer shows a police car cam view of a police officer alarmed by an ongoing fight, which is offscreen. The officer gets out of the car and walks out of view, as a distressing argument can be heard and seems to be escalating rapidly. The officer and his car are then thrown by an unseen force, which is very likely a supernatural one. The main question is, whose powers are they?
In the first game, players controlled Max Caulfield, a teenage girl bestowed with the mysterious ability to manipulate time, as she helped her friend Chloe Price in her search for a missing girl.

Life Is Strange 2 is a tale about two brothers on the run. Here's a new trailer...
It feels oddly necessary to identify Life Is Strange 2 as a sequel. After all, we did get a new Life Is Strange adventure recently (Life is Strange: Before the Strom), but that was a prequel to the original game. There's also the intriguing, and free, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, but that game is a standalone adventure that takes place in the Life Is Strange universe and seems to run parallel to the events of Life is Strange 2.
So what is Life Is Strange 2 besides a proper continuation of the original game? It's actually the start of a whole new story about two brothers, Sean and Daniel Diaz, who are on the run from the cops after abandoning their home in Seattle. This road story sees the Diaz...

Dontnod Entertainment revealed the release date for the previously announced sequel to “Life is Strange” in a tweet.
The first episode of “Life is Strange 2” is coming Sept. 27, and will be one of five total episodes for the new season.
Dontnod also teased fans with a short trailer, which depicts the new logo getting embroidered onto what appears to be a messenger bag. Perhaps notably, it looks quite different from Max’s blue messenger bag, which was seen hanging from the protagonist’s shoulders throughout the first season. Possibly a hint that this new season will follow a new character?

“Life is Strange” fans have said their goodbyes to Max, Chloe, and Arcadia Bay. Now, Dontnod is looking ahead to the next chapter in the series. To set the table for the upcoming “Life is Strange 2” reveal, Square Enix is offering up a free story, “The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit,” for free.
The single episode experience takes players to Beaver Creek, Oregon. The series isn’t leaving the Pacific Northwest, but it is shifting gears. Instead of starring a teenage girl, the titular “Captain Spirit” is a 10-year-old boy named Chris with a perfectly appropriate imagination.

Dontnod is taking this interlude to update its technology. “Life is Strange” was built in Unreal Engine 3, while “Captain Spirit” and “Life is Strange...

Anthem
BioWare’s upcoming RPG, Anthem is a third-person shooter set in a futuristic world where players venture out into a hostile “shared world” wearing customisable exo-suits, or ‘javelins’, to complete missions.
