YourMovieSucks is one of the greatest movie critique channels on YouTube
philipglesne3 January 2017
YourMovieSucks is one of the greatest movie critique channels on YouTube. He uses a lot of time on making his videos, and it shows. He isn't afraid to voice his opinion about movies, even if his opinion isn't popular. He gives his opinion truthfully, no matter what other critics or critique websites are conveying. YMS also makes top 10 movies of a year lists. These lists are great assets to find more obscure movies you wouldn't have found otherwise. YMS doesn't just critique movies he also presents you to movies you've never heard of. This is what makes him unique to me, and why he is my favourite YouTube critic.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack, also known as the Battle of Pearl Harbor, led to the United States' entry into World War II. The Japanese military leadership referred to the attack as the Hawaii Operation and Operation AI, and as Operation Z during its planning.

Adam is insanely talented at picking out nuances in film, and combines his opinion into his awesome YMS and "Quicky" videos.
Dude covers up that he is seriously film educated with his charm and wit.
Cannot recommend his work enough, and also check out is game reviews and his music!

This is one of the best Youtube channels out there.
I'm obviously referring to the YMS section of his channel, that focuses on bad films like Cyberbully, Cool Cat Saves the Kids or the Neil Breen trilogy.
Your Movie Sucks also does full reviews of non-bad films, "quickies" and thoughts on films, but it's his in-depth analysis and trashing of bad films is the best part of his channel. The rest is good, but the world is filled with film reviews of good films. Film reviews of bad films are fewer, good reviews of bad films are even fewer and autopsies of bad films are rare. That's where YMS stands out from the crowd.
Reviews of bad movies are slowly becoming more common as people watch bad films as comedies, but YMS has an edge over everyone else.
His Cool Cat episodes are a must watch.

Your Movie Sucks - YMS

So I just watched Your Movie Sucks and it was... decent. Now I've been excited for this series for a while and had pretty high expectations but I have to say it wasn't as good as I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, this is a very well-made series, but it had one major problem and it was in the cinematography department. Most of the shots were just very bland and uninteresting. There was this one scene where two people were having a conversation, but one of the shots was slightly out of focus. It was HILARIOUS. The acting was fairly well done and a few actors were really given chances to shine. Tilda Swinton in particular was excellent in every scene she was in. So check this one out if you want, and I'm giving this one a 7 out of 10.

This is a show that surprised me, and stands out as probably one of the most hard working YouTubers that do film reviews to date. It shows that he spent time to make each and every episode consistently entertaining, with jokes that never obscure the point he tries to make but always stay on topic. He also goes very in depth with the points he tries to make, especially in the in-depth reviews he makes, where he cites interviews, articles, reports, and so on to have the information necessary to really drive his opinion - which, even though I might disagree with heavily at points, can always see where he comes from. That is a trait I hold as something that is equally as valuable as a reviewer who has similar taste as me, seeing where they come from in a non-condescending way.
I thoroughly enjoy his content and he seems very passionate about what he does and the art of film in general (while also being a very talented musician). I see where his harsh (albeit justified) opinions come from, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy to watch. Definitely recommend.

Well, I first came across YMS or Adam Johnston when hearing the Kimba controversy was debunked. He's made tons of reactions to trailers and tons of videos of just him doing reviews.. I have to admit that I almost never agree with this guy. I think the only time I gave a movie he reviewed the same score was 2014's "Godzilla". He seems to think that a 6/10 is a good movie, but most people believe that's just an okay film. His documentary on Kimba is absolutely amazing.
It was sad to see his other work was stuff I just really disagreed with. He complained that "Inside Out" was too similar to a show called "Herman's Head". He claimed that "Toy Story 3" was too similar to "Toy Story 2". This is from the guy who spent two and a half hours debunking similarities from "Kimba The White Lion" and "The Lion King". While he is certainly someone who works hard...yeah, he's a complete hypocrite. I am giving this one an 8 out of 10, which is actually very high by his standards so he deserves it. *** (to be technical)

My favourite Movie review channel on YouTube

Adum has created one of the most entertaining channels ripping apart terrible films with great comedy and editing, picking apart films in detail as well as the film-makers. This is where I think he stands apart from the rest because his videos make fun of some hilarious people that usually wouldn't be in the spotlight such as Michael Goi and the guy who directed the death race movies as well as more well known terrible directors such as James Nguyen and Shyamalamading-dong. He also has two other great series from YMS of quickies, which are pretty standard but I respect him being a lot harsher than other film reviewers such as Chris Stuckman and Jeremy Jahns. He also does top 10 films of a certain year which are fantastic and introduce me to movies I have never heard of. He also spends a long time before releasing a top 10 video because he makes sure to watch enough so he can show you his DEFINITE top 10 films of that year which shows the effort he puts into his videos. I gave this is an 8/10 because his early videos are flawed in the terrible audio quality, obvious oversights and standard editing and comedy but besides that YMS is my favourite movie You Tuber and his introduced me to one of my favourite films, 'Synecdoche New York' (still waiting for genius of Synecdoche New York Part 5) and actually makes me laugh.

Lotta horse references. He introduced me to The Lighthouse (2019), which is now one of my favorite movies. On top of that he's responsible for introducing me to so many other films (even if I wish he's make more videos of what he recommends). Very in depth reviewer.

So I just saw YMS and it was booooring! There was one scene where a paper clip changed places in different shots. Overall I'm gonna go with a 6/10 for this one. Closer to a 5 than a 7, but definitely not an 8 or a 4, for sure not a 9 or a 3, and not even close to a 10 or a 2, although it's definitely not a 1 either.

Knowledgable yet Nitpicky & Pretentious
KamranVA12 May 2019
I recently saw this individual's YouTube reviews through a friend, and he's definitely informed on the subject matter. He has some form of formal education on filmmaking, that much is apparent, and I can appreciate the most analytical of reviews, positive and negative alike. That said, I found his reviews obnoxiously snarky and so many of his biggest criticisms, at least in the reviews I saw, were pure nitpicking. He's like a more knowledgeable version of CinemaSins. Both can be very entertaining, but neither one is a source of criticism I'd take the least bit seriously.
When a person goes into something looking to be negative, to me, that just comes off as pretentious. The fact that he calls his channel "YourMovieSucks" kind of says it all. He clearly has an audience, so he's doing something right. His channel and his approach to critical thinking just isn't for me.

What a REAL film critic does
glassearth22 March 2021
Umm... he actually criticizes films based on their executions, that's what you're actually supposed to do if you're a film reviewer. Like he said in one interview, listing events that take place in a film does nothing to prove it's quality, what's more important is how it's made. Films like under the skin, it follows, and 2001: a space odyssey prove that. If we were judging things based on the events that take place in them, we might as well just call them "script reviews" or "screenplay reviews" or "story reviews". We should save all that for screenplays and scripts.
Among the Best.

Really well shot, the score was fine and the acting was all around fine except for that one child actor who was really annoying, I thought the pacing was quite eh, but this is probably one of the better releases for this year. Anyway, I'm giving this a 6/10, might change to a 7/10 on my second watch.
