The box set contains a remastering of Mitchell’s albums from the late Seventies: 1976’s Hejira (1976), 1977’s Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter, 1979’s Mingus, and the 1980 live album Shadows and Light. You won’t find any unreleased recordings or outtakes here; Mitchell will include those on the official Archives Vol. 4, expected later this year.
Each record on The Asylum Albums (1976-1980) was remastered from flat analong master tapes by Bernie Grundman.

Those six artists representing their team will next take the stage for The Knockouts beginning April 8, but first we want to know who is your favorite artist on Team Dan + Shay? The Ghostbusters are back in New York for the second instalment of the sequel-slash-reboot series, following 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This time round, it’s directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote both Afterlife and Frozen Empire with Jason Reitman. Effectively energised by the New York setting, the sequel has evidently learned from the disastrous mistakes of the previous film and emerges as an entertaining adventure in its own right, though it’s not entirely without problems.

To succeed, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire needed to be fun and capture the spirit of the original Ghostbusters. It was and it did – with caveats. Seeing the Og Ghostbusters team strapping on their proton packs was a hoot, but this latest installment in the franchise made some odd plot choices. It also sticks around half an hour too long.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, a direct sequel to Afterlife, finds the Spengler family – teens Phoebe and Trevor, plus mom Callie – and former teacher-turned-ghostbuster Gary Grooberson moving into the iconic NYC headquarters. The foursome’s kept hopping, responding to kooky undead creatures, including a sewer dragon. If there’s something strange in the neighborhood, they’re on the case. Why? As Gary says, quoting the “Ghostbusters” lyrics, because bustin’ makes him feel good. (That’s just one...

Plot: After having relocated to NYC to fight ghosts, the Spengler find themselves tangling with an old nemesis of the Ghostbusters, Mayor Walter Peck (William Atherton), who wants to shut them down for good. Meanwhile, an ancient evil will be unleashed over the city, releasing all the spirits caught over the last forty years.
Review: I was a big fan of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Jason Reitman’s film skillfully blended nostalgia with a new take on the franchise that opened up the Ghostbusters universe in an inclusive way. It welcomed new fans without alienating old ones, something the 2016 reboot notoriously failed at. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire seems to be aimed at building the franchise out more extensively. While it’s still a fun, nostalgia-driven return to the Ghostbusting universe, it’s not as good as the last film and spreads itself too thin to do the new characters justice.

The Ghostbusters universe seems to be getting awfully crowded. The latest film in the franchise, celebrating its 40th anniversary (gulp), features a plethora of ghostbusters old and new, including the surviving members of the original cast, the characters introduced in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and a variety of eccentric new figures who are bound to figure in future installments. The only ones left out, it would seem, are the female ghostbusters from 2016’s unfairly maligned reboot, who should at least have merited a respectful cameo.
Nonetheless, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire tries hard, very hard, to satisfy the series’ fans with plenty of nostalgic throwbacks and mainly succeeds. It’s not nearly as good as the classic 1984 original, but then again, neither was 1989’s Ghostbusters II, and that one was directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, all of whom were responsible for the original. So the fact...

On her first two albums, 2019’s Essentials and 2021’s Sensational, Danish R&b singer Erika de Casier displayed a preternatural sense of creative and personal self-assurance. Her lyrical modus operandi fell somewhere between sly defiance and cool detachment as she flexed her career ambitions while shrugging off bad dates. Perhaps it’s fitting, then, that de Casier was launched into international recognition in 2023 by co-writing K-pop group NewJeans’s “Super Shy,” a song about overcoming insecurity.
With Still, her first album as a newly minted hitmaker, she unravels her typically unbothered persona, expressing a newfound degree of doubt and romantic turmoil. The album roughly tracks the course of a tumultuous relationship from nascent flirtation to post-breakup reconciliation, placing de Casier in unfamiliar emotional territory.
This arc begins in typical de Casier fashion with “Home Alone,” a showcase of her signature retro-futuristic production grounded in the sounds of Y2K-era R&b.

Hot Swedish helmer of Georgian descent Levan Akin is due to kickstart Berlin’s Panorama Feb. 15 with his feature drama “Crossing.” Nine years earlier, he walked the Berlinale red carpet with his youth sci-fi “The Circle,” showcased at Generation. One of last year’s most unexpected musical twists was the ascent of Zach Bryan, the rootsy singer-songwriter who sounds not unlike Bruce Springsteen or Jason Isbell — and went all the way to Number One on the Hot 100 with the ballad “I Remember Everything,” assisted by Kacey Musgraves. His self-titled fourth album was one of the best country/Americana releases of the year, but it’s only one of the unmissable 2023 releases in that category, from Jason Isbell’s own Weathervanes to Megan Maroney’s Lucky.

Following The Film Stage’s collective top 50 films of 2023, as part of our year-end coverage, our contributors are sharing their personal top 10 lists.
Another year of films. Another year of depressingly hopeful favorites.
That’s not to say I didn’t love any comedies. The ones I did just had a tendency to punch you in the gut somewhere along the line. It’s a truth that probably says more about me than I could ever articulate on my own. Grief simply resonates—especially when it can hit hard while still allowing the affected character on-screen to smile in the face of it.
We need a little of that hope in the real world. An authentic, complex hope to mirror the dark, politicized era in which we currently reside. One where anyone who isn’t depressed twenty-four-seven is more than likely not paying attention to anything that’s happening beyond their own personal gain.

AMC hit paydirt with Bob Odenkirk's last two shows on the cable channel. While Lucky Hank is unlikely to be nearly as successful as Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, will it be popular enough to see a second season? Will Lucky Hank be cancelled or renewed? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
A comedy-drama series, the Lucky Hank TV show stars Odenkirk, Mireille Enos, Cedric Yarbrough, Diedrich Bader, Olivia Scott Welch, Sara Amini, and Suzanne Cryer. The story revolves around William Henry "Hank" Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chairman of the English department at Railton College, a badly underfunded college in a working-class town in Pennsylvania. Hank's going through a mid-life crisis and his discontent is rooted in unresolved issues with his father, a mediocre and entitled student body, and in the fact that his department is more savagely...

Lucky Hank, Bob Odenkirk’s follow-up to Better Call Saul, has been canceled by AMC after one season. Although the series received positive reviews, the audience just wasn’t there to justify a second season.
“We’re proud of Lucky Hank and thankful for the work of everyone who brought this unique, playful and deeply human show to viewers, from the talented creative team to our partners at Sony and, of course, Bob, Mireille and the entire cast and crew,” AMC said in a statement. “Unfortunately, we are not able to proceed with a second season, but we are glad these eight episodes exist on AMC+ and will continue to find new fans — or be seen again by viewers who come back to spend more time with Hank, Lily and the entertaining cast of characters at Railton College.“

The second season of the Marvel Studios series "Loki" begins on Disney+ this week, and there are certainly plenty of new time traveling adventures on the way for the God of Mischief. When we last saw Loki (Tom Hiddleston), he'd been betrayed by his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), who killed He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and unleashed a bunch of new timeline branches. This violated the preservation of the Sacred Timeline by the Time Variance Authority and created the growing threat of a bunch of He Who Remains variants, who will all be a force to reckon with in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Oh, and she sent Loki to a timeline where no one at the Tva knew who he was, not even Mobius (Owen Wilson).

"Where did you get those tapes?!" Shudder + Bloody Disgusting have revealed the main official trailer for V/H/S/85, the next film in this found footage anthology series. It's now the fifth one - V/H/S/99 debuted just last year (also on Shudder now). As expected, V/H/S/85 (#5) is premiering at Fantastic Fest in TX this week before streaming in October. "Get ready for a found footage compilation of disembowelment, clubbing, and dismemberment, just to name a few of the grisly deaths. It’s Reaganomics and imperial disillusionment in the way that only the V/H/S movies can do them — with the fake blood hose nozzle cranked up to the soak setting." Featuring new segments made by the horror filmmakers: Mike P. Nelson, Natasha Kermani, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Scott Derrickson, David Bruckner. The Tron-themed one looks bonkers. Dark Winds will have another case to solve at AMC and AMC+.
The hit drama series has been renewed for Dark Winds Season 3.
A renewal was a no-brainer, with the cabler and its streaming sibling previously touting the show's continued success.
Dark Winds Season 2 averaged 1.7 million viewers during its first three days on the linear cable service.
Numbers for AMC+ have not been made available, but the network indicated that it had a strong footprint on the streaming service as the series aired.
Episodes were made available before their debuts on the service, so there was an incentive for fans to watch it earlier.
"We started this journey with very high hopes for this series, given the remarkable source material and extraordinary creative team behind it, and it has delivered on every level," said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks.

2020 might have been the year of the time loop movie, but Christopher Smith's 2009 horror film, "Triangle," is one of the best to ever do it. The underseen film has seen a resurgence in popularity as the time loop film as a style of storytelling has expanded beyond classics like "Turn Back The Clock," "The Twilight Zone," and most famously, "Groundhog Day." In "Triangle," a young mother named Jess (Melissa George) is struggling to adjust to raising her autistic son, Tommy (Joshua McIver), on her own. She has a planned day trip on a friend's boat, but strange little coincidences occurring throughout the day start to feel like devastating inevitabilities. As time continues to loop and realities begin to fold in on each other, making sense of the film can feel overwhelming if you're not used to the timey-wimey weirdness of a film like "Triangle."
