Wasted of time!
amy_ruby24 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It was boring, from the beginning till the end, the way they suppose to "fix" the problem was not the right way at all. The only character I enjoyed was Nikkis, other than that, awful.

Girls Woman in Love
RosanaBotafogo22 June 2021
A sweet meeting between girls for a farewell threshold, reminded me a lot of the wonderful "The Boys and Band" not so prestigious, not so intense, but adorably fun, the intimate character, the improvised dialogues, the nostalgic presentations, combined with country locations and intimate debate, give a soft, passionate and charming touch... #GirlsWoman inLove.

Easy to watch
moraanex25 October 2020
The topic is interesting but a bit too cheesy for me here. Easy to watch when you don't want to get too deep into a subject.

Awful
MSM0226 August 2018
As a lesbian, I am well accustomed to watching awful films just for a lesbian storyline but this was definitely one of the worst. I didn't connect with any of the characters and nothing really happened throughout the whole movie. There are also some really cringey parts where one of the characters sings.

not relatable at all
medina-345744 February 2019
I've watched a plethora of lesbian movies and yes a lot of them are really tacky and make little sense but this one was just bad. none of the characters were likeable. the script is mediocre. as a lesbian, I wasnt expecting much because let's face it, we don't get representation on screen very much so it's not a total shocker but I guess this left me wanting for more.

Hipster/indie/Low Budget Fail
earthboli16 January 2019
If you liked the indie movie "That's Not Us," you would probably like this movie. I couldn't stand that "gem" of a film and neither could I stand this one. First of all, movies that hinge entirely on dialogue better have a good script and characters we care about. This movie attempts to be "real" and show dialogue of twenty/thirty something aged folks together for a weekend bachelorette party (some people don't know each other well so it goes out of its way to capture awkwardness), but I seriously question the quality and realism of the script.

Combine that with some bad acting and directing, including things like sudden melodramatic gestures/sudden tears from most of the cast at odd moments, random bursts of song from the singer character, and one of the main characters not knowing how to jog without flailing her arms (even non-runners know how to jog a little without looking ridiculous-which was reallllly overdoing it), a nerdy male "Harry Potter" looking guy being lined after by multiple attractive women in the film and you have a bad/unrealistic movie.

I didn't even touch the plot issues. I won't spoil it, but let's just say that if the main lesbian couple just talked more openly, this movie wouldn't have a reason to exist.

In addition, the director made the odd choice to also rely on faux interviews with the characters talking to an interviewer behind the camera to learn more about each person and his/her sexual development. Why was this necessary? It seemed odd and out of place in this dialogue-heavy movie.

Character development was poor. Actors start crying in the film or bickering before you have time to understand them or care.

Ultimately, this movie is a complete waste of time. It was like watching footage of a bunch of random people I don't know and don't care about try to work things out/avoid things over the course of a weekend. Yawn!

A lot of people talking about their feelings
siderite3 May 2019
It was a decent movie. The actors acted, the director directed, the script was complex and careful with the details. It was the plot that could put people off, being just about people getting together for a weekend for a lesbian bachelorette party and talking about their feelings. The title of the movie relates directly to orgasms and I think that it was the most artificial thing in the whole thing. I mean, yeah, orgasms are important to the story, but only for some characters and the interviews with everybody describing their first orgasm felt completely out of place to the rest of the film, which was about their life issues in general.

I can't in good conscience recommend the film, but it was definitely not bad. If you like this kind of movies - you know, people getting together in a retreat and NOT being chased by monsters or manic killers - then you will probably like this one.

Terrible
KakanH13 March 2020
I will admit that I didn't even finish this movie and that is solely on the fact that I feel that there were better things to spend my time with. This movie is in all honesty awful. I can understand the appeal of the plot, I can even understand that this movie could have been good, well at least funny. Sadly the very poor acting is this movies' Achilles heel. While the two main characters acting is fine but sadly leaves a lot to be wished for, the rest of the actors manage to bring this movie to its demise. Incredibly awkward to watch when the planed jokes are butchered by bad acting.

An awful movie that is not worth your time! If you want to see a good lesbian storyline go watch Carol or in all honesty any other lesbian movie than this, even an amateur youtube lesbian short movie will be a better way to spend your time.

Decent, slice-of-life movie
dreamlife61312 September 2018
I came across this movie on Netflix and while I greatly disliked the actress who played Lu - her acting style was very distracting - I did enjoy Constance Wu's Andi and the supporting characters, especially the very funny Regular Helen.

The actual worst film I've ever seen
pasqualini_lea21 May 2021
I literally created an account to rate this movie. I wanted to scream at how unlikable, cringey, uninteresting and awful the characters were. There's no depth to this. Nothing makes sense. There's this stupid grainy filter on the whole time that makes it seem like there's a problem with your screen. The plot is so empty. Void. I was hoping for a different LGBTQ+ movie with good representation for once but it's like the rest of most of them, pathetic. My god, I couldn't sit through one more minute of it. This movie is what you watch in hell.

Absolutely terrible.
sclafunk12 April 2018
This is the kind of movie actors do to try and get a reputation of being progressive. None of the characters were likebale, nor had a shred of integrity. The plot is absolutely absurd for a movie that tries to root itself in "what's real"; and the acting within is even less believable. Anglea Trimbur is truly one of the worst actresses I've ever seen, it just goes to show you that it's about who you know, more than talent. I wanted to shave her eyebrows, they're so absurd and overdone. There was no redeeming quality to this movie beyond Constance Wu being nice to look at.

That was not it.
smuirhead31 January 2021
Potentially one of the worst films I've ever seen. Completely, and unnecessarily crammed full of a number of difficult circumstances for each of the characters, but lacks a solid story line for any of the characters. The description of the movie is just as bland as the actual film itself, and it hardly has anything to do with a woman not being able to orgasm. Confusing, messy and not the best acting or script writing either. I wouldn't waste your time watching this one.

Not good
allison1011 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I know 99% of lesbian films are bad but I thought this one would be somewhat decent. The plot felt empty, I couldn't get myself to care about the characters, the characters were boring and had no substance to them. The dialogue was cringy, the acting was bad and the movie has some random crying and singing from the characters.

We spend more time with the other characters than with Lu and Andi. There's a subplot with Lu's sister that I did not care about at all, Andi's guy best friend was annoying and somehow managed to pull multiple women in the group. Of course they make him confess that he's in love with Andi. I'm over the 'guy is secretly in love with his girl best friend' trope.

The movie has confessionals from the characters about when they got their first orgasm that doesn't fit with the movie and feels pointless. Most of this movie felt pointless.

The whole plot could've been avoided if they just talked to each other!! Did Lu not care that she wasn't having orgasms? Did she try anything to fix it? Was she just hoping that it would happen one day? I don't get why she wouldn't do anything to fix it. You're not having orgasms from your partner who you love a lot and your thought process is to just say 'oh well' and just hope it works out?

This movie isn't good
jada-6031821 February 2022
I only got about 16 minutes in before shutting this one off. Everything about this movie is awkward, the jumps from scene to scene and the dialogue. This movie feels unscripted in the worse way possible, it feels like every line is improved by people who don't know how to improv. The dialogue is so awkward to watch and it seem like everyone is so uncomfortable but at the same time clueless to everything that is happening around them. The acting isn't good and the transitions are pretty terrible. This movie does this kind of a reality show move were one character will sit in front of the camera and talk about their backstory or how they feel about what just happened, however it is very poorly done, the backdrop is pretty ugly and the people don't talk about anything interesting. Every line in this movie has me wondering where the sentence started and where it was supposed to go, I don't recommend this movie to anyone.

The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1 is because some of the shots looked good, and it had some very mediocre parts that weren't the worst thing I've ever seen.

beautiful, funny, almost perfect.
claireogden24 April 2018
While highly improvised and not reliant on typical rom com conventions, The Feels is a romantic comedy disguised as an indie film, full of surprising turns from social comedy to (pre)matrimonial tragedy. The film is set in California wine country on the cusp of a lesbian couple's joint bachelorette weekend. On one of the first nights of their trip, one half of the pair, Lu, admits she's never had an orgasm. A madcap weekend ensues, full of the comedic and tragic elements that any modern film of this genre should have. It's a long-haul rom com, full of the awkward interactions, petty fights and misunderstandings common to a real relationship. That's what makes the film so effective and beautiful.

It took me about 15 minutes to buy into this very improvisational, loose plot/dialogue structure, however. At first, the dynamics and jokes of the film felt a bit forced, trying a little too hard to be clever, to seem genuine. There's also a recurring plot device in the film in which each character gets interviewed about their first orgasm; though often hilarious, it's never explained who they're talking to and why, so it's a bit of a suspend-your-disbelief type situation. But for this film, I was so down to do that.

So many things were in this film were done so well. The cinematography, of course, is gorgeous. The views of California wine country, the candlelit bachelorette dinner, the simple aesthetic of the weekend house and the vibrant background of the interviews were all just so visually appealing. They really mirrored the film's playful, explorative atmosphere. Another standout quality of the filmmaking was the dialogue. Apparently much of The Feels was improvised, which makes the hilarity of the dialogue all the more impressive. Regular Helen steals the show again and again with hilariously bawdy tales and awkward, completely unselfconscious fumbles.

In my opinion, The Feels is a beautiful queer love story and a proud addition to the genre of rom com. But it's so much more than that. It shows us that sexual and romantic dysfunctions and concerns transcend gender, race and sexuality. A woman might not have any idea how to make her girlfriend come any more than a man, and that's fine. Because, and this film really drives this point home, it's about open communication, which transcends every human category. Full of humor, sadness, and everything in between, The Feels may be many things, but it's definitely not to be missed.

Beautiful!
mbandino20 March 2018
This movie will make you laugh out loud and shed some tears. The director invites you into their weekend and makes you feel a part of film. The reality of orgasms, or lack of, should be put more on the big screen. I love this movie.

Love how this queer love story isn't based around coming out
kajash-1478320 March 2021
Really enjoyed this film for the aesthetics, realistic characters and easy pace. It's refreshing to watch a queer love story that doesn't have a final problem solved moment when the character comes out. The queer friend group is highly relatable and the dialogue feels very realistic, to the point of being awkward but hilarious. It flows naturally and feels unforced; I can imagine it being myself and my friend group.

I don't understand how people aren't relating to the characters!
jessietamplinwilson18 January 2021
I have been reading the bad reviews of this movie, with the majority of saying that the characters aren't likeable! I mean how can you not like Helen? Yes there are some cringey singing. But first and foremost this is a lesbian 'chick flick' and that is to be expected , and what I wanted! If you want a funny, easy going, lesbian movie which touches on conversations that aren't represented enough watch this film! I loved it - and I have now rewatched it a few times!
