The past few weeks, Labrinth has been riding a high.
Last month, the artist, producer and Emmy-winning “Euphoria” composer delivered the biggest performances of his career at Coachella. One of the most talked about sets of the festival, Labrinth surprised fans with special guests both weekends: Billie Eilish came out during Weekend 1 to sing their buzzy collaboration “Never Felt So Alone”, and the second weekend brought Sia and Maddie Ziegler for “Thunderclouds” as well as “Euphoria” star Zendaya, who hadn’t sang live since 2015 (when she briefly pursued a music career). Their rousing rendition of “I’m Tired” and “All for Us,” both songs from the hit HBO series, instantly blew up on social media.
“I just love how brave she is, because I was in the same position as her — I hadn’t done a big show like that for 10 years,” Labrinth tells Variety. “So I was like, I...

The third album from British composer-singer-producer Labrinth only clocks in at about 28 minutes, but it’s a megadose of mood. The LP’s darkly hued tracks about love and loneliness come wracked with so much tension it often seems as if like they—and Labrinth himself— fall apart at any moment. Labrinth’s maxed-out sense of drama came through in his scores for HBO’s Euphoria. Here his vision of love as a way to channel pain can be exhausting; even the love song “Power Couple,” which has an exploding-stars grandeur,...

Zendaya and Labrinth have us in our feels. The pair have collaborated once again, this time on a track for the British singer's new album, "Ends & Begins." In "The Feels," Zendaya joins Labrinth in the second verse, singing about being "intoxicated" by a romantic partner. She sings, "Now you got me lost in emotion," and divulges to the listener, "The truth of it is I'm in love with you."
Labrinth's last studio album, "Imagination & the Misfit Kid," was released in 2019. That same year, he began serving as lead composer for HBO drama "Euphoria," on which Zendaya stars.
Zendaya just joined Labrinth on stage at Coachella to perform their first two collaborations, both from "Euphoria." During the performance, the pair sang their Emmy-nominated song "I'm Tired" from season two of "Euphoria," as well as "All of Us," which was included in the first installment of the...

Only one person has been able to convince Zendaya to step into a recording booth since she decided to move away from music after the release of her debut album in 2013. Labrinth, who has crafted the musical landscape her character Rue exists within on the HBO series Euphoria, apparently knows just what to say to pull her back in.
First, their collaborations manifested in compositions made specifically for the show, but Zendaya now also appears on Labrinth’s separate, standalone album Ends & Begins. “The Feels,” which the musician wrote and produced himself,...

Prime Video got off to a fast start this summer with the release of The Boys season 3 on June 3. Now, as we enter the dog days, Prime Video is set to keep the warm weather good times rolling with a new twist on an old classic. That’s right, Amazon’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by some good old-fashioned baseball.
A League of Their Own, the TV adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 movie, is set to premiere on Aug. 12. Like the movie before it, the series will dramatize the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League which saw women playing America’s pastime while the major leagues were on pause for World War II. Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) co-created the show and will star as catcher Carson Shaw.
Other Prime Video Originals of note this month include season 2 of British comedy The Outlaws on and the Ron Howard-directed Thirteen Lives,...

Prime Video will continue rolling out its summer slate in the month of August, releasing new original series, as well as a mix of suspenseful films, action movies and more.
Amazon’s series version of “A League of Their Own” will debut its eight-episode first season on Aug. 12, introducing new characters and stories set in the historical opening of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (Aagpbl).
Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” tells the real-life story of how a young boys’ soccer team was rescued from the Thai mountain cave where they got stuck for 10 days along with their coach.
Other new film arrivals include hits from earlier this summer, “The Lost City” starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, as well as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Academy Award-nominated film “Licorice Pizza” also arrives on Prime Video this month.
Freevee will also have new arrivals this month.

It’s summer, everyone! And with its relatively sparse list of new releases for July 2021, Hulu seems to be subtlety imploring its subscribers to go outside.
Don’t get us wrong: Hulu’s library offerings get a big upgrade this month. July 1 sees the arrival of great films like Galaxy Quest, Fargo, and Caddyshack. Bill and Ted Face the Music premieres on July 2 and its followed by Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar on July 9. Not bad stuff! It’s just that, outside of the library titles, there isn’t much to go off of.
Hulu’s only major original release this month is the FX on Hulu production American Horror Stories on July 15. As its name implies, the show is a spinoff of American Horror Story and will feature self-contained horror episodes rather than a season-long arc. If you’ll allow this geriatric millennial to deploy one truly ancient meme: “Yo dawg,...

When Maren Morris first hit the airwaves in 2015, she did so with “My Church,” a gospel-sized salute to the redemptive power of singing along to Hank, Johnny and other country icons. She’s been diversifying that countrified image ever since. “80s Mercedes” traded the western wear of “My Church” for a palette of neon colors and acid-washed denim, while “Once” dressed itself up like a long-lost R&B ballad. Morris’ biggest hit to date, the international dance smash “The Middle,” even found her trying on electro-pop for size.

Maren Morris made her bones as one of country’s brightest new upstarts three years ago with her major-label debut, Hero. She introduced herself as a Texas songwriter with a sharp eye, a velvet voice and a mean streak, especially when it came to her irreverent attitude toward Nashville pieties. “My Church” was her profane hymn about hitting the highway, rolling down the windows and blasting Hank Williams on the car radio. From “Drunk Girls Don’t Cry” to “80s Mercedes,” Morris sounded fresh, wry, electric, full of hip-hop and R&B,...

Mindy McKnight is encouraging young children to embrace their emotions. The YouTube star's six-month-old channel, UniLand Kids, is the home of The Feels, a new series that features visual representations of common feelings.
The Feels, which is UniLand's first original series, is animated in a simple, colorful style. Each episode explores a specific emotion by giving examples of how it manifests and explaining how it affects people. The goal is to allow children to connect their own emotions to those in the show, thus allowing them to better refer to their feelings in the future. So much of what potential readers — and now, with a star-studded movie adaptation in production, potential watchers — need to know about Kevin Kwan’s smash hit novel “Crazy Rich Asians” is right there in the title. It’s about crazy, rich Asians, but it seems like some members of Hollywood didn’t quite get that at first. Oh, sure, they were down for the crazy part, the rich part, even the crazy-rich part, but the Asian stuff? Not so fast!
In a revealing new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kwan shared a strange experience he had in the early days of getting his novel made into a big screen property. The author told the outlet that during an early meeting with a potential producer, “the producer asked him to reimagine his protagonist, Rachel (played by Constance Wu in the film), as Caucasian. ‘That was their strategy,’ he remembers. ‘They wanted to...

Chanelle Aponte Pearson’s Dazzling Ode to Black Lesbian Love Is the Next Great Queer Project of 2017
If the success of “Moonlight” and “Atlanta” are any indication, 2017 is set to become the year of the visionary black auteur (about time already). Joining their ranks soon enough is Chanelle Aponte Pearson, director of ‘195 Lewis,” which recently won a Special Mention from Outfest for “highlighting the contemporary life of queer black woman with flair, vibrancy and substance.”
The short series explores the joys and pitfalls of open relationships in a vibrant community of black queer women living in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. Flowing with original music by members of the community and glowing with luscious colors and warm light, Pearson breathes life into the eclectic mix of characters with equal parts humor and lust. The script, by first-time screenwriters Rae Leone Allen and Yaani Supreme, radiates a confident originality that heralds a fresh new perspective.

Lucia Aniello’s feature directorial debut, the raucous and raunchy “Rough Night,” should please both fans of her work on “Broad City” and audiences looking for a hilarious female-led comedy this summer. Downs (who also co-stars in the film), the feature follows a star-packed cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Kravitz, Jillian Bell, and Ilana Glazer as a group of long-time pals looking for a good time and coming up against some major unexpected issues.

Hot on the heels of Zoe Lister-Jones’ boundary-busting “Band Aid,” which features an all-female crew, Jenée Lamarque’s upcoming “The Feels” boasts some impressive numbers of its own. With an 80% female cast and a 68% female crew, the raunchy, female-driven comedy is hopefully just the next step in an ever-evolving entertainment industry.
The film, which will bow at the Seattle International Film Festival later this week, also features a decidedly lady-friendly bent, as it is set during a lesbian bachelorette weekend which takes a totally wild turn when the attendees discover one of their own has never experienced an orgasm. Hi jinks, of course, ensue.
