Holden Goes Off the Track
Hitchcoc21 October 2017
The most significant focus of this episode is Holden's becoming aware of an elementary principal who disciplines his kids by tickling their feet, then giving them nickels. There is considerable controversy. Many parents and teachers feel he is just a good guy with a different method of approaching students. Others are very concerned. The point is that Holden has no business putting himself into this controversy, but he doesn't recognize. He has developed a big wall of jealousy with Debbie and this is darkening his world. She has a lab partner whom he doesn't know and who she says she just works with. Billl and Wendy are starting to worry about him. He is also in trouble with his supervisor who has green-lighted their work. It should be interesting to see how this shakes out. The principal is a pompous ass. Having been in education for over 40 years, I believe that his attitude toward his own methods would be educationally suicidal. The conclusion of this episode makes us aware that Holden could be in big trouble.

Holden on

An interesting episode as Holden goes of the rails a bit and goes after a principal for odd behavior. The classic how far is too far when chasing intuition.

A "thinker" episode
Leofwine_draca23 March 2022
Despite the contents of the story being almost trivial, I quite enjoyed this one. It has a lot of conflict and uncomfortable moments and questions morality. One for the thinkers.

First Netflix that needs to add back the social media aspect of reviewing titles
dlschuch3 September 2019
Having said that this particular episode is crazy. Main focus of this episode beyond the fact that our protagonist seems to be in hot water with everybody is the principle of a local school has some unseemly ideas about how to discipline children and the general position is stop. I don't care how many teachers say he's just doing it because he's a good guy or how many parents say no big deal, if even ONE parent says it is a big deal it needs to stop! If the FBI comes in and tells you to stop it REALLY TRULY needs to stop.

I was in elementary school during the period covered here and even then that behavior would have just been too creepy for words. But truly the bottom line is if you are working for a company and they ask you to stop doing something, and their customers request that you stop doing something, if you don't stop doing it you're gonna be fired. Whether it's an oil company or a school, that is a reasonable outcome to expect. Of course film school 101 tells us that this guy is going to evolve into something far worse but just on the off chance that he doesn't does not validate him at all.

Stubborn pride should not interfere with your paycheck

Pedophilia?
AvionPrince166 December 2021
Nice investigation. The main character is on the case of a teacher who have inappropriate behavior with their students. Its follow by an intuuition of him. Its pretty good to follow and we can have some reasons of behind that behavior. Still interesting and the relationship between the main character and the girlfriend. Its still intriguing me even if i found that they dont go to deep in the psychology of the killers but good anyway.

Living the storm
master_charles-762647 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In Mindhunter S1E8, we witness Holden facing a tumultuous series of events that mirror relatable challenges in life. As he follows his instincts, supported by evidence pointing towards a principal's misconduct, he finds himself at odds with his supervisor. The feeling of impending trouble is universally familiar, and Holden's experience resonates deeply with viewers.

The storm intensifies as his colleagues also question his stance, and the unit's reputation hangs in the balance. The relatable theme of feeling cornered and criticized by superiors unfolds in a way that many can empathize with.

Holden's personal life takes a hit when he discovers his girlfriend's inappropriate intimacy with her lab partner at a sociology event organized by school (she is sitting on a desk in a dark room and her lab partner is an inch in front of her with his hands on her stomach).

The emotional impact of this revelation adds a layer of complexity to Holden's character, leaving viewers empathizing with his struggles.

Despite the chaos, the episode takes slight turn as the school council decides to let go of the principal, marking a small victory for Holden.

This impactful episode reminds us of the highs and lows that life throws at us, making Mindhunter S1E8 a riveting and relatable watch.

Holden ford won't kill anyone, I guess
iniyan_arul22 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Surely we have been watching the heuristics of Holden ford. He has been so into them(crimes and killers), first it made me felt like he's enjoying it like a little boy gives important to horror movies.

But resently the story makes me bite my Neil and the headfone wire so often by flashing some scenes where Holden could be scream off of his anger which I hope he will do one day.

And when the scene where the Wife of the Principal speaking with ford, oh I was whispering to ford to get back inside, because she's gonna shoot him and at once will get the elevator!..

whew.. nearly that could have happened, the direction got quite a applaud their.

Yada, yada, yada?!?? In 1969?!??
lornagwater21 September 2019
Despite the anachronism of a prisoner incarcerated in 1969 using the Seinfeld-ism "yada, yada, yada," it's an interesting episode.

Episode 8
bobcobb30117 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Following up off a good episode 7 we get another good one here. Rarely will a show so openly cover the idea of possible pedophilia and even try to look at both sides of a principal touching students.

This show is best when it goes deep into things and either focuses on the killer's insight or gives us something to think about. This episode gave us something to think about for sure, even if we are in universal agreement about how disgusting the principal's act was.
