Anna, who has divorced her unfaithful husband Ben, tries to get her life back on track. This means juggling a lot of responsibilities - maternal, social, professional - while confronting the approach of middle age. Luckily, Anna can count on the support of her two best friends, who are always happy to make the odd sarcastic remark.

For those of you who are unlucky enough not to be Belgian : Belgium, to put it VERY simply, is divided into a Dutch-speaking north called Flanders and a French-speaking south called Wallonia. "Zie mij graag" hails from the Dutch-speaking north. In fact a number of outdoor locations come from my native city, Mechelen.

The series (of which I've only seen season 1) relies mostly on situational humour, enlivened by the occasional "what if" gags and dream sequences. Quite a lot of it is funny, such as the scene where a professional wedding photographer takes pictures of a beaming young couple. The couple's joy begins to diminish when the photographer, a divorced man, describes the disappointments of family life - the arrival of screaming babies, the sleepless nights, the loss of sexual appetite, the growing frustration. Or there's the scene, set in a nightclub, where a handsome young man approaches a magnetic older woman, only in order to discover that she is the doctor who, some years earlier, treated him for nocturnal bedwetting... Other scenes are less successful.

"Zie mij graag", which translates as "Love me" or "Care for me", is not without its charms, mainly because the actors are so amusing. (Lead actress Alejandra Theus is pretty much irresistable.) Sadly there is something about the screenplay and plot which feels overly familiar. One gets the impression, rightly or wrongly, that the makers of the series watched a great deal of feelgood romcoms, feelgood sitcoms and so on.

By the way, this is not a series for prudes, as it involves quite a lot of (talk about) sex, nudity, Brazilian waxes, etcetera.
