- TriviaWhen Jefferson was chained, the other slaves also chained there sing the song "When the sun comes up, And the first quail calls, Follow the drinking gourd. For the old man is a waiting, For to carry you to freedom, Follow the drinking gourd". Folklore has it that enslaved people in the United States used it as a point of reference so they would not get lost. The was was collected from the folk tales and was first published in 1928. The Drinking Gourd is another name for the constellation of Big Dipper in the northern skies, which has two stars always so aligned that they point to the Polaris or the North Star. Thus, all slaves had to look for the Drinking Gourd and follow it to the North Star to go north to freedom.
- GoofsThe Legends travel to 1862 because of a distress call from a Time Pirate that has crashed. They find the ship... get sidetracked by a whole lot of changing history stuff... and then leave. Without ever finding the Time Pirate- or even looking for him, after the initial capsule burning. Which is especially ironic considering the entire episode is dedicated to the concept of "staying on mission, don't stray from why you are here" theme.
- Quotes
Dr. Martin Stein: This time period is replete with various perils. Perhaps it might be easier if you were to remain behind, and keep Doctor Palmer company.
Jefferson 'Jax' Jackson: Perhaps you should remain behind.
[pause as Stein looks awkwardly sideways]
Jefferson 'Jax' Jackson: No? Because you're not black? Because you think that me going back to 1863, I can't handle it?
Dr. Martin Stein: That doesn't mean there's a need for you to subject yourself to the horrors that await you in that era!
Jefferson 'Jax' Jackson: Okay, now I get it might be difficult for you to understand this, but I've been black my entire life Gray. And honestly, I can't think of a time period we could go to where I wouldn't face some sort of racism. So don't worry, okay?

The zombies were great and the episode was really well balanced with talking, fighting and character development.
