So the Fifth Season wraps up with the apprehension of Richards and his wife. Banks continues to go off the deep end but finally reins himself in. It turns out there is an informer on the team and Richards has been benefiting from his calls. I don't know why, but this show began to fizzle toward the end. There was a repetitious quality to it. Morton grows into her post fine. I know that a final Doc Martin season is coming up soon and it will be hard to separate her two roles.

Warning: Spoilers
When this episode was broadcast, it had yet to be announced that DCI Banks would not return for a sixth series, not even a wrap-up of some sorts. Also, it was shocking that Annie was killed off. I cannot understand why DCI Banks wasn't renewed by ITV. It's in the awful tradition of outstanding British police dramas being axed for no rational reason, like Inspector Lynley and The Coroner.
Anyway, Banks's final speech in honor of Annie was incredibly moving.
