Rebecca has been captured but she manages to make herself heard by saying Ibrahim Bin-Khalid is still alive as Naseri takes her away planning to stream her execution live on the internet.
Mullins who initially distrusted Andy is now reliant on him when a suspicious Simms has sent one of his own operatives, Daniel Pang as a co-director of the CTU. Mullins has only been on the job for less than 12 hours and has already been sidelined. Still Andy has found about Simms to lead Carter on to him.
It is now John Donovan who teams up with Carter and comes to the fore in order to save his wife. Discovering that National Security Chief Donald Simms has been holding Naseri's daughter in a safe house, Donovan breaks into the Pentagon with Carter and holds Simms hostage. I am not sure what this will do for his presidential ambitions.
This penultimate episode ends with a potential showdown between Carter and Tony Almeida as Rebecca's life hangs in a balance.
