Typical

Nothing new to see here. Typical found footage. The plot is dumber than most, the cast is a little better than some. It is neither terrible nor good. It is a time passer, no more and no less.

not a complete waste of time
phenomynouss7 March 2021
It wasn't particularly good or memorable, but for a tiny budget 69 minute found footage film, it wasn't boring. The tension was decent enough, though too much of the "spooky" elements were telegraphed hard in the form of random camera static and distortion.

On top of all that, the apparent "sluagh" things were almost completely invisible. Given the tiny budget, this might've been necessary but it made it almost impossible to tell what was going on sometimes, including in some of the motion sensor camera cutaways.

Ultimately it's not a film I would seriously recommend, as it's just ultimately too light on content to be worth much

This is really disappointing and there are better found footage options
kevin_robbins2 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Haunting of Grady Farm (2019) is a movie I recently watched on Amazon Prime for free. This is a found footage film that shows a documentary teams on their way to Grady Farm to investigate a series of disappearances. What's the chances they're the next victims? This movie is directed by Matt Dickstein in his major motion picture debut and stars Ben Kaplan (Slasher), Shane Hartline (Rock of Ages), Josh Server (Await the Dawn) and Alexandria Owens-Sarno (Titanic). The storyline is well built up but executed poorly with no special effects and no fulfillment for the audience when you finally want to see what's going on. This is really disappointing and there are better found footage options. I'd score this a 4/10 and skip it.

Formulaic Dreck
tmccull5225 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Move along; nothing to see here, folks. This is just another "found footage" horror film that checks pretty much all of the same boxes as virtually every other movie of the like.

We have a group of intrepid documentarians, lead by the caustic, pushy, driven host of a paranormal investigation show. I'll call her Douchie O'Bannon. Douchie has the requisite sensitive, long-suffering,endlessly devoted wimp of a boyfriend who supports her unconditionally. Douchie and Wimp catch a flight from Los Angeles to Orlando. Douchie intends to document a purported haunting at the long-abandoned Grady Farm. Once Douchie and Wimpy arrive in Orlando, they're picked up by another overly used character; the sarcastic, acerbic jerk who thinks he's the wettest, hippest, slickest man ever to walk the Earth, Charlie. Charlie has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He is the cinematic archetype of an unlikable a-hole that everyone else somehow manages to value and tolerate. We next meet Mr. Nice Guy and his Girlfriend, Hippie Chick. Mr. Nice Guy secretly plans to propose to Hippie Chick during the ghost hunting hijinks. Then we meet Charlie's new girlfriend, the sweet, perpetually horny eye candy who somehow thinks that Charlie walks on water. Let's call her Cotton Candy.

Wimp, who obsesses over documenting every single minute and even the most mundane details of the trip, helps Douchie interview the locals before heading off to Grady Farm. Of course, the locals tell our merry group to stay away from Grady Farm; nothing good ever happens there. Of course, again, our merry group does not listen.

Douchie and her pals set up camp near Grady Farm, where we learn more about the members of the group, and Charlie proves to be even more unlikable. After the group pitches camp, they do what all dedicated investigators do; they drink beer and smoke dope. At some point, Charlie and Cotton Candy slip up away and do the nasty up against an oak tree. While all of this is going on, there are static and white noise glitches in the footage while Wimpy films. This, obviously, signals the presence of the paranormal.

Later that night, Cotton Candy tells Charlie that she wants to go back to the oak tree, but he tries to talk her out of it. Cotton Candy wanders off to pee in the woods but doesn't come back. Charlie is so concerned that he goes to sleep instead of looking for her. He wakes up the next morning, and Cotton Candy hasn't returned. He tells the others that she's gone missing during the night, and they tell him.not to worry about it, she probably just wanted to be alone.

Charlie and the band of Morons go looking for Cotton Candy, and find her hanging from the oak tree, dead. Things unravel quickly from there. They flee through to woods to find Charlie's car, only to find it on fire. They start running again, and fire a dilapidated farm house that belongs to a grubby shotgun wielding psycho local who warns them that they're all doomed to die, one by one by one, because you know, "one by one" just wasn't descriptive enough.

As if there isn't already enough panicked screaming and running through to woods in the night, our merry band flees Psycho Shotgun's house, and they run into the woods to renew the panicking and screaming. One by one, the paranormal forces pick off members of the group, and the remaining members turn on one another. Does any of this sound at all like about 10,000 other "found footage" horror movies?

Band of "life long friends" who can barely seem.to stand one another go on an adventure into the unknown.

The locals warn them to stay away.

They don't.

They get drunk and stoned on their first night in the woods.

Someone has sex.

Someone who has sex dies.

Someone disappears all night long, and no one seems too terribly concerned, until they find that someone dead.

Everyone panics and flees. They do the requisite stupid things, like running into pitch black woods without any kind of light.

Everyone is picked off, "one by one by one".

While everyone is being picked off, the surviving members of the group fight and turn on one another.

Everyone dies.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

Horrible acting and NOTHING happens
rmwilliams-8722816 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
40 minutes in before anything happens and even then they just find one of the members of their group hanging in a tree, their camp is gone, and their car is burning. It's a lot of them filming absolutely nothing that is relevant to the plot. Or running and screaming in the woods with some static on the camera or "demonic" voices

Don't waste your time, even if it's free
msmarie-6971818 December 2020
I have never ever written a review for a movie before - whether good or bad, but this movie was such a waste of money and time that I feel morally obligated to warn people from the path I took. Don't. Just don't. I don't care if you like watching 'bad' movies, I do too! But this feels like a 'made in college for my semester project' movie - Terrible acting, unrealistic reactions to what should be moving moments, the first half could be (and should have been) cut out, there is no suspense what-so ever. I was surprise to see in the credits that four people worked on this movie...I can only assume it was done during a weekend binger because the movie makes zero sense. None.

Even bad movies - I can usually enjoy something. Even movies with terrible acting - I can usually enjoy something. This is just crap.

What did I just watch?
Lakersin0014 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When the car pulls up in the field and everyone gets out, you can see the shadow of a crew member rocking back and forth, then waving. It literally ruined the ability to suspend belief. And what was up with skinny white guy? I'm assuming it was he who was filming them in the woods? I never even believed they were friends and I could have cared less about the characters when they were being killed. One of them gets shot in the shoulder and immediately dies. Anyway, if you're trying to watch every found footage film there is, then save this one for last.

Here's the thing....
xxmisssvxx24 January 2022
This film isn't bad...for what it is. Many people hate found footage based films because of excessive camera shakes or there's so much happening simultaneously that it takes away from one's ability to focus on any actual storyline, let alone follow what's happening.

I enjoy found footage films but it doesn't mean that they always get it right, or even create something solid. In this case, there are some holes that could have benefited from exploring more, maybe even shedding some light on what exactly is haunting the crew.

If you're looking for something to watch or kill time, this is watchable. Don't expect much going into this but be annoyed with the group of people that don't listen...to anything.

Horrible waste of time.
barris-728895 February 2021
I am a sucker for found footage films and have seen quite a bit of the films in that genre. I must say this is bar none the worst one I have ever watched. The creature that is shown on the poster/ thumbnail is never shown the acting is horrendous and the digital interference effect is used entirely way to much. Seriously even if you do have a found footage guilty pleasure I would skip on watching this title.

Short but sweet
HeyHay3720 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I actually really enjoyed this movie. Nothing new here in regards to the found footage horror genre, but it was to the point, without unnecessary crap added in order to make it a 90 minute movie.

What I liked is how simple it was: local legend, people filming for a show they have, horror ensues. No long, drawn out emotional scenes of crying and talking to the camera. The actors were great (except for charlie). I was super disappointed that he didn't die-he was so freaking annoying, but everyone else felt really natural and acted appropriately-nothing over or under done. The effects were simple and clean-which was really effective. I found myself rewinding a couple of times because I missed something here or there-some of the bits were that subtle.

All in all, it was a fun way to spend an hour!

Why?
cstreiner20 November 2021
Possibly the most boring horror film I've ever seen. You never even see the Not-Irish-Actually-Scottish Evil Spirits. This is a Doug Walker-level cinema.

I was going to give it one star, but I gave it two because Emily Wolf pretty thicc.

Terrible movie with no redeeming qualities
loloqueen-2962215 March 2021
Far worse than Blair witch, though same concept: shaking the camera excessively doesn't equate to excitement or drama. Crummy camera handling that induces nausea, a garbage storyline and plot, e.t.c. total waste of time to watch. When something finally happens, the picture gets sketchy, fools constantly scream incoherently, and the camera shakes until the audience has to look away to avoid feeling sick.

Another found footage plodding mess
Kranadon6518 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I watched Blair WItch in 1999 because I was attracted to this new genre of found footage .The jerky camera angles made it seem more amateurish and not done by a professional camera man which added to the excitement factor. Of course they also added a publicity stunt that this was an actual real found footage film and the characters had all disappeared which turned out to be one of the most famous hoaxes when the actors who played the characters turned up and revealed that the whole movie was fictituous. . They worked it perfectly and made a ton of cash .

So just like with reality shows when Survivor first aired, the floodgate of found footage films just erupted but unlike Blair Witch , the concept was no longer original and the excitement faded because we all know all of these so called found footage films are fictituous and not real even if they say otherwise like based off actual events. And now 20 years later we have yet another cheap , poorly produced found footage movie "The Haunting of Grady Farm " . The characters are the same stupid group of people you see in every low budget crappy horror movie that is direct to DVD. There's also a lot of subliminal images on the found footage that shows the demise of several characters for a split second before it actually happens . WTF? The whole premise of an actual show within a show doesn't work , it looks so phony and badly acted with some woman claiming to be a doctor and talking about the Grady farm as well as interviews from various people.

They are supposed to be filming for a TV show about hauntings yet they have these cheap cameras and who exactly are these people?, they look like a bunch of college kids on spring break. They go to a place that is private property without getting permission into a wooded area that has been reported as unsafe and have beem told that people have disappeared there too. Ok,it's a movie but for once would it have been too much to have the writers have an actual idea of what to do ? No, they do the same thing as all others have done , gather stupid people of college age and have them do the same stupid things , run and shout in the dark -of course go off alone and of course dont bring any weapons or at least hire some security. There is no suspense when you know everyone is going to die ,it's just a matter of waiting the boring few minutes of jerky camera angles and static to see someone get grabbed by an invisible entity or see a blur on screen which is supposed to be the monster. Oh and speaking of cameras, in one scene you see two of the characters being spied and filmed by someone but you dont know who since all they show is a hand on some bushes. And there are also other video cameras who's footage would indicate that they are at least 20 feet off the ground and they are in random places in the middle of the woods ,who set those up because it sure wasnt our dumb band of idiots. Was it the hillbilly they find in the dilapadated house ? Who was he? It's never revealed if he was a Grady and why was he there alone ? He obvioulsy knew about the evil creatures in the woods and tried to help the kids by telling them to be quiet until morning when it would be safe but no, they run away screaming into the dark and when 2 of them return , the hillbilly is dead on the floor ,it isn't revealed how he died ,was it a blast from the shotgun he had in his hands or something else? You dont know because all you see is blood and his feet and one of the characters grabs the shotgun offscreen.

Too much formulaic garbage that the writers use. It's the same tired stupid college age kids doing the same stupid horror movie cliches . At least put a little more into the writers budget and hire someone who has more than an ounce of brain.

Typical Found Film Tripe
walkertechie29 November 2020
Why is it that people feel these found film, shaky cam, no budget backyard films are good ideas? Its all just lazy film making with zero talent individuals, no talent production crew and even worse writers. This crap is no different. Bad acting, abysmal story line, lacks suspense or horror, high school writing, and the shaky cam nonsense. Whoever made this movie should be banned from holding a camera or working in the industry again. Only leads to more garbage to pollute the airwaves.

Pretty Bad
jwjboston-1563819 December 2020
I wasted $4.99 renting this thing. Pretty lame, even for a found footage movie. The acting is not even remotely believable. Must have been made with a $1.95 budget. There's no story, no development, and tons of inconsistencies. Don't waste your time or money on this oinker.

Wow! Bad.
jmbovan-47-16017325 July 2022
Boring retread of this type of film. Stock characters, stupid decisions, and then all the warnings ignored. I'm not even certain what the supernatural creatures were, but they were hidden and secretive. So, completely not scary. Dull, slow, and tepid. Pass.

Totally boring
redban028 February 2022
I love found footage films, but this one sucked. Nothing actually happens for a good 40 minutes, and then when the horror parts occur, the film, for some reason, decides to randomly cut back to some interviews, which breaks up the flow. This movie isn't good. Don't watch.

Found footage. Shaky camera. Hard to tell the characters apart. Lots of screaming, and no one behaving in a way that makes sense. You know how it will end.
