A good film with a happy ending....

I liked this film because although it was kind of sad throughout, the ending did satisfy. But I think the whole point to this one was that when Elder Smoke explained to the children about how the greed of the whites has caused massive spiritual problems with the Indigenous people. What I mean is that the foreigners keep taking and taking without giving anything back in return. White greed still continues on today. Fortunately the help from the Elders and other spiritual people still get the message out, especially to greedy non-Natives who don't know any better, that it's never ok to keep taking from the lands, waters etc. without giving something back in return.

In the film, it was so pleasing to see Juliana touch that big muskie before deciding it was best to put in back into the water. Keeping it out of the water would have meant a big cash payment but the girl listened to Elder Smoke earlier in never to take from nature without giving back. As it turned out, she convinced her father Mike to put it back into the water. Eventually Emma and her family got rewarded big time not only from the $50,000 gift from that local news station but also the additional mega payment (I forget how much it was now). But the girl's selflessness led to her and her family getting rewarded. See how the Great Spirit works in terms of karma?? Any unselfish acts eventually comes back ten fold to people. In this case, the good karma came back well for her and the family. The important thing here is that she decided to listen to Elder Smoke which then caused good things to happen to her family. Anyway, because of the good plot, this one earns an 8 out of 10.
