The gritty and edgy thriller Red is set in the underground world of illegal organ smuggling, the so-called red market. It's the directing debut of Branko Tomovic (24: Live Another Day) and stars Dervla Kirwan (Ondine, Interlude in Prague, Trautmann) as the violent cruel crime boss with Francesca Fowler (Doctor Who, Rome, Closure). Niklas, a surgeon who lives a life of solitude and is tormented by self hatred, performs regular illegal surgeries for the red market. He works together with Mia, a young prostitute who lures her clients in and drugs them. Niklas is looking for a way out of this dark world, but owes his life to their violent crime boss Ed, who would rather kill him then let him go. The...

This year's highlights included 14 Years and One Day by Lucia Alemany, Goodbye Darling, I'm off to fight by Simone Manetti, Red by Branko Tomovic, Why Siegfried Teitelbaum had to die by Axel B. This year there were over 700 entries for the Scenecs Festival from 74 countries. 63 films have been screened and 19 student films. International film makers were even better represented than last year, including India, Poland, Croatia, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Russia. The gritty and edgy thriller Red just picked up two awards at the Unrestricted View Film Festival in London. The directorial debut of Branko Tomovic (24: Live Another Day, Fury, The Bourne Ultimatum) starring Dervla Kirwan (Ondine, Interlude in Prague) with Francesca Fowler (Doctor Who, Macbeth), is set in the underground world of illegal organ smuggling, the so-called red market. It tells the story of a damaged and guilt-ridden man who works in this dangerous underground world but is trying to find a way out of it. Tomovic plays the isolated and tormented surgeon with extraordinary emotional depth which makes you emphasise with him, although he is performing these horrible crimes. For his captivating and very powerful performance Tomovic won the Best Actor Award last night....

The 40th Grenzland-Filmtage Selb Festival just announced their award winners for their exciting 2017 edition. Feature films, documentaries and short films are at the core of the Grenzland-Filmtage. Highlights of this year's festival included Hear the Silence by Ed Ehrenberg, Lost in Munich by Petr Zelenka, 1000 Mexicans by Philipp Scholz, That Trip We Took with Dad by Anca M. The 7th Annual Itsa Film Festival in Sonora, CA had an exciting line up this year with new films from Iván Sáinz-Pardo (Save), Theo Pavlou (Hugo), Paolo Monico (The Mother), Branko Tomovic (Red) and Matt David Johnson (The Dishwasher).
