Gritty and Real Feeling

Small time drug peddlers aiming to go straight are forced into one last job for their boss which sets them off into a new direction and vision. The last job doesn't go as planned and they get their hands on a pile of drugs. Thinking ingeniously, they plan to smuggle the drugs in movie film canisters as those don't get x-rayed at airports (not thinking about drug smelling dogs may be a plot hole). They go so far as to set up to produce a real movie to cloak their illegal activity. How will things shake out from here? Really creative script with honest dialog and acting. Mix in some nice surprises within good pacing and editing = a great little film.

Surprisingly Good Film

It's clever the way the story shifts effortlessly from one plot line to another. The inconclusive ending adds to the viewer's fascination. It's up to him to figure out what happens next and to construct an alternative story which is cool.

The segment where Ziad becomes a reluctant film producer is rather hilarious.

The main characters deliver good performances. But I like the actor playing Charbel. He seems so natural. He is in his element as film director.

I like this movie. Keep in mind that it is a Lebanese movie, part of a particular genre and has particular undertones. If you have reasonable expectations and are sensible to these particularities, then I highly recommend it.

giving this film 10/10 was not that hard, for everyone who is able to watch this film, don't miss a chance to watch it, very big shot is a very big film !! excellent characters building, excellent plot, very realistic and brilliant script with a very moving story, such an amazing film !! The film explores fraternal relationships, Christian- Muslim relationships, Lebanon's recent violent history and film making and all under two hours! The script is witty, the acting superb and set and location edgy and evocative. The ending is very ambiguous and can be interpreted in one obvious way. The director, who was present at the London film festival's screening, declined to fix the interpretation of the ending, leaving to up to viewers to decide the line that leads to Ziad's final act. It is clear that this film is deeply symbolic and represents Lebanon and its politics as much as any domestic action drama.

Basically a copy of Argo set in Lebanon. The acting is sub-par, especially the Seth Rogen lookalike character. Skip this.

Funny, Political and Unpretentious

This movie promises for an unordinary cinema experience (especially compared to classical examples of middle-eastern cinema) within its funny story and deeply satirical narration which associates factual references and absurd motives.

Absolutely shoul be seen.

DERIVATIVE FILMMAKING

It's pretty clear this director watched a variety of Western films and tried to contrive this nonsensical story. The cinematography was decent, but the acting was very patchy. Skip this one.

Total waste of time

I gave this movie a try. After 30 mins of total boredom I wanted to turn it off. Then almost at it's ending there was some action that could make it ok but then the movie just ended, very abruptly. How on earth can this have a 8+ rating?
